If Trump does well, the Republicans do well...

Conversely, if Trump does not do well, the Republicans will likely be defeated.

That is the political reality that dictates their every action.

They worry that if Republicans do not vote for Donald Trump, they may not vote down the ballot either?

They feel they have no choice but to support Donald Trump. The country be damned! To hell with our democracy! This is about their survival.

This does not mean they love Trump. It means they love themselves and the gravy train they have been riding for a long time.

"Loyalty" is one of those words that just has a positive connotation, even though it's highly dependent on exactly who or what you're loyal to....

Republicans are loyal to their party even though it stands for fascism and bigotry and selling out to Russia.
