Can someone tell me why I am forbidden by law from online gambling?

Honestly? Why?

And to bet on US elections have have to send my money to a friend in Ireland to place the bet for me. Really, to bet on the election in the county where I live I have to send the bet to someone in another country.

There is not much difference between the two. Frequency and magnitude of return rate is about all.

i invest online. Do not gamble unless i am waiting for a table to open at the buffet. I can read the stats on a company just like i can on a horse or dog. You still are gambling that future results will be better.

And that government monopoly on gambling will not be threatened.

It's hard to collect taxes on winnings from online while taxes from wins in the lottery or casinos are easy to collect.

Native Americans, especially, get angry if something threatens the money they get from casinos, and I can't blame them, after how much we've screwed them they deserve that casino income.

such as the puritans and calvinists and their ilk had, restricting dancing, music, playing cards, gambling, smoking and drinking, etc.

I'd like to say that I don't gamble and don't see any reason for it, so the old saws about how its an addiction and destroys families and so forth do resonate - but realistically now, its forbidden because a practical means to tax it haven't been arrived at. Too many states rely heavily on taxes gathered from legal gambling, and they have a large interest in keeping unregulated online gambling illegal.

Look at everything else you can do online, there is either a government regulator, or an industry regulator. Examples of industry regulators are private organizations that work to make online purchasing safe. If online gaming companies set up effective regulation bodies, and allow those bodies to work independent of the industry owners, then restrictions against online gaming in this country may be allowed.

The casino industry takes in tens of billions every year just in America. Do you think they are going to just sit by while that is threatened?

Not to mention the alcohol. Otherwise, someone just doesn't want to have to regulate that. It seems like there should be some European sites, though.

They need a court order to monitor your online transactions and since most people lose in a big way, it really isn't a big priority. Even PayPal doesn't track that shit. Gamble away.
