There is only going to be one winner among those competing. Those who lose will have to try to make up for their investments and what better way than to manipulate their stock up along the way? So they say, "We're really, really close" when no one knows the truth.

“My money” is the driving force behind modern capitalism. There’s no changing that, and it’s pointless to resist it.

The various companies working on a vaccine are doing so for one reason only—profit. They see an un-filled market demand for a vaccine, and they want to fill that demand and then profit from doing so. If they end up saving millions of lives, all the better, but it is foolish to imagine that they are even capable of operating outside of the profit motive.

Which is a good thing, because if all were working on one vaccine, and it failed, there would be no vaccine.

If they all work on the same vaccine, we're screwed if it fails. By working on many different ones, they increase the odds that one will work.

BUT there should still be communication and open cooperation.

Saving lives should be the ONLY goal, not money or patents.

Competition should not be involved.
