Trump on California wildfires: 'Tree go BOOM'

The American Independent @AmerIndependent
Trump on the the California fires: "When trees fall down, after a short period of time, about 18 months, they become very dry, they become really like a matchstick and they get up -- you know, there's no more water pouring through and they become very very -- they just explode."

It’s a common occurrence when a cretin manages to grasp a simple concept, then assumes an extensive knowledge of that particular subject.

This is an all time stupid for Trump. BTW that leaf litter (out west pine needles) is an import a very
important component of the forest's soil horizons.

And just get cuts between the trees to stop the fires .... Trump you get your ass
up and down the slope of a mountain with a chain saw and cut those fire breaks.

Worse than the Compost Wars of 1827. Those wars never really ended until William Howard Taft signed the revered "Don't try to shave a bear" executive order.

By the way, speaking of Taft, he was an interesting fella. Only certain people know this, but he used to get what they called at that time "oral erections" while giving a speech. It was a psychological reaction to the public speaking anxiety he had. His tongue would stick out of his mouth about 9 inches. He had a huge tongue....

Mr. President...

Nobody in the media ever talks about Taft's huge tongue...

Um, Mr. President...

No really, not only was it long, but it had some really good girth...

Mr. President, why don't you try to get some rest now?

The women used to discuss his tongue during bridge tournaments...really! Not many people know...

Time for bed Mr. President.

They explode because of the oil contained in their sap.

I knew this from watching the fires in Australia last year.

They have videos on YouTube showing exploding eucalyptus trees.

There are 3 reasons why trees can explode:

Cold: the sap freezes

Lightning

Fire

I couldn't find anything on dead trees exploding.

I did find that forest fires have a build up of gas close to the ground that can make

the fire move rapidly.

Eucalyptus trees in the U.S. are grown in California, Arizona, Hawaii, and Florida.

There are over 700 different species and they are considered a fire hazard.

They mainly grow in Australia.

We were in the drought part of the cycle, it was October and the trees and hills were tinder dry, and we had an offshore flow - sort of like conditions when the current fires kicked off. In addition to exploding, the damn eucalyptus drop shreds of bark, leaves, and annoying tetrahedral seeds all over the place, creating a lot of litter to burn. If I get my hands on a time machine, I'm going to find the idiots who thought importing them was a good idea...

They are planted commercially in Florida.

They harvest the oil and the wood is a hardwood.

The common one in California is Eucalytpus globulus, the Tasmanian blue gum. It was brought here in the 19th century as a timber tree, but turned out not to be useful. It's now an invasive pest (although sometimes it does smell nice).

The name of the ones that are grown at Mounts Botanical Gardens are called Rainbow Eucalyptus.

They are really beautiful. They have rainbow colored bark. Here is a link with photos.

...in alarming ways. After a wind event I once drove thru a Burger King with a border of eucalyptus at the edge of the parking lot — that day I saw a shiny fairly new pickup truck with a tree fallen lengthwise from hood to tail light. All 4 tires were flattened.

The head of state of a forested European nation told him.

He said, “We have trees that are far more explosive…” — he meant “explosive” in terms of fire — “…but we have trees that are more explosive they have in California, and we don’t have any problem because we manage our forests.” So we have to do that in California, too.
