Voters who voted Democratic through John Kerry in 2004, then switched to John McCain in 2008....they were sizeable, but not enough for McCain to win anyway.

(2,636 posts)He was almost likeable in '08, John McCain. Then he dove into the Tea Party Palin all women are the same swamp.
I don't want to say that anyone switching from Kerry in '04 to McCain was a racist, but if the hood fits....

(59,504 posts)then went to McCain because they wanted an experienced leader with significant experience in foreign policy. That describes Kerry and McCain. In addition, both were men of proven integrity. I considered that Obama also was a man of integrity.
Obviously, in MANY ways Kerry, a liberal Democrat, was 180 degrees different than McCain.
