Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSo now, the WSJ Editorial is whining: Bloomberg's Florida Purchase
We dont begrudge Mr. Bloombergs spending on causes and candidates he believes in. But Democrats and the political left say big money corrupts politics. Now that the big money will be used against President Trump, were not hearing complaints about spending.

(16,411 posts)Hes not purchasing votes. Hes simply providing funding to help the candidate he believes is best make his case. Voters in Florida will be the ultimate arbiters. His money guarantees nothing.

(24,422 posts)We need to win before we can actually change anything. And with the obscene amounts of money needed to win a national race, it would be insane to not do what it takes to win and then work on fixing the system but we can't do anything if we unilaterally disarm ourselves of what we need in order to win

It's a ridiculous complaint by the WSJ Ed Board.
It's 100% possible to believe too much money in campaigns is bad, but still be glad our principles are being backed by big money. After all, it's not like the other side dared us into a budget battle.

Good job WSJ. Carry that water for Don the Con...
Now the center is the "political left."
If anything the Democratic party has bent over backwards to be centrist or mildly right of center to attract voters brainwashed by the constant bombardment of RW Con propaganda from Rush, Faux, WSJ, CNBC, Faux Business, Murdoch's other global media, the US Chamber, and Facebook, along with a host of other paid shills.
Why do you think words like "union", "liberal", "class", "poor", "socialist", "lgbtq", "organic", "vegan", "vegetarian", "antifa", "global warming", "climate change", "face masks", "Obamacare", have been either effectively eliminated from the vocabulary, or negatively associated with being anti-american. When was the last time you heard a politician embrace the word "liberal". Liberal has become "progressive". Now the Cons are working on that.
This isn't an accident. This has been going on since the 60's when the establishment business and wealthy class declared war on the workers and middle class. You can see it in the erosion of wages and the shifting of wealth to the top .1%. This is a planned strategy that has been executed flawlessly.
"The Left" in this country would be "The Right" in most other countries...

(9,086 posts)Trump is such a danger to the Republic that now is not the time to play nice. I'm against billionaires purchasing elections, but I'm fine with being principle-flexible on this one.
