does that mean this is the line? If there are no consequences to this action, does that not mean Congress is a paper tiger? I don't like the US operating on the benevolence of the Executive, but what's to stop them at this point?

(4,244 posts)I had forgotten about that and it was recent lol. Right. Pass legislation, I suppose, but they'll have to be able to enforce this shit outside the DoJ. Too much potential for another Barr fuckup. Cheers.

(6,252 posts)I find the latest iteration of DU is full of Pollyanna's who think everything is just fine. Status quo, if you will.
The truth is the Senate (Legislative) is cramming the Judicial to benefit and empower the unitary Executive (aided by a corrupt Judicial Dept), thereby neutering the House and making any of their powers strictly ornamental. The three branches of govenment will become one branch controlled by a malevolent, megalomaniac reincarnation of 'Sun King' Louis XIV.

(10,274 posts)Then the joint majority can pass that stupid law the SC says is needed to give the house the inherent contempt power already assigned to it by the constitution.
Then it wont matter who's in the WH, because the tiger will have teeth to chew on executive malfeasance again.
It will be fun watching Mitch whine and cry about how mean we are to him from the minority for a while, especially if we take his favorite filibuster toy away from him.
