"I lost all of my friends because of this job."

"We were loose!"

Trump still on this rant of not being able to go out with his friends. "I'm not a drinker but you can sit back ... and have a drink, whatever you're drinking."

"Now I have to rely on people in Congress to be my friends!”

He uses people. And people use him.

And he calls them friends because the reality of the situation would be crippling if acknowledged.

HE has to be the victim in every situation. He thinks he's so innocent and undeserving of anything bad happening to him. Doesn't he know that this is part of life? He's led one of the most privileged lives, yet he boohoos about everything being unfair.

I'm glad he's miserable.

This is a new thing for him to whine about, though. Usually, he just pisses and moans about how everyone is being mean to him.

People associate with him because they think they can get something out of the deal. He is the most hated man on the planet. It makes me laugh that he actually thinks he has genuine friends.

Trump approximates human behavior. He is enough of a con, that he has learned to say words the superficially convey a semblance of humanity, but it is "off" there is always a weird, synthetic feel to what he says when he is trying to sound human.

The only aspect of humanity that Trump is able to pull of genuinely is our ability for depravity and cruelty. Aspects that most of us try to escape or suppress.

People are complex. We have the capacity for wonderful love and gentility and selflessness, and at the same time we can be mean and sadistic and selfish.

Trump is simple. He only has the capacity for the latter. There is no complexity to him. People (at least Pundits) try to analyze him and infer some kind of complexity to him. I always wonder if they are obtuse, cynical, or just don't have a firm grasp of human behavior. Trump is easy to figure out. Maybe it is difficult to accept that a person can be so morally bankrupt, but it is not academically difficult to figure out what motivates him.

23. Trump has no "friends".

I guess it depends on how you define friends.

If by friends, Trump means people that you hang around with to try to see if you can scam them, or take from them or use them to your advantage in some way, then I guess he might have "friends".

If by friends you mean people who you care about, who care about you; people who you share mutual respect with and would help in a pinch, and who you know would have your back... then Trump HAS NO FRIENDS.

To have friends, you have to be able to care about people, you have to be able to say, "Jim is really into fishing. Me, not so much, but I am getting Jim a fishing trip package because it will make him happy." Can you imagine Trump thinking that way or doing that for ANYONE?

To have friends you have to see beyond yourself and care about things other than yourself. Trump does not and can not. Trump holds his children and looks them in the eye, only to try to see his own reflection.

Trump had a pretty good little gig going. He was a minor celebrity. Not really important, but he could get attention when he wanted to. He wasn't really accepted by high society, but he could hang around with the B list people, and occasionally make it to places like the Correspondents Dinner. He had some money and assets but was likely living the "credit card life" paying off debt with debt and hustling to keep the family in fur and bobbles.

Then he had aspirations on being president. A vanity project. Revenge. There were people out there (Putin and the Oligarchs) who saw the opportunity to use an idiot to try to damage the US. Trump, never really having been held accountable, was not used to the intense scrutiny that Presidents go through. He didn't realize that he actually had to work. He actually had to know things, and learn things, and make decisions and lead, and that people were counting on him to be competent.

It was all just outrunning the tax man or the debt collectors, and the lawsuits. Now he has the weight of a nation on him and he is out of his depth and can't bullshit his way out.

His little New York real estate developer, minor league celebrity bullshit fantasy got steamrolled and now he's waking up to find out he's standing naked in front of the class and everyone is pointing and laughing at his tiny little....
