Personally I can't stand her she says she is being ironic when she said Obama is a Muslim...I say why, why do that? Some say she is always reinventing herself...I say she is always looking for an opportunity to promote herself...and here she goes again....and here I go promoting her.
"Y'all better vote for f--king Obama, OK? For better or for worse, all right? We have a black Muslim in the White House. Now that's some amazing s--t," she said. "It means there is hope in this country. And Obama is fighting for gay rights, so support the man, goddamnit

(28,581 posts)Of course she was not being serious. She was making fun of the rw idiots.

(27,670 posts)and would never say anything like that in seriousness.
And she totally loves Barack Obama. There's that also.

(25,406 posts)I have no expectation that Madonna, or any other talented actor/singer/dancer, is going to have any meaningful insights into politics.

(12,325 posts)I also think that she's waging a war with Lady Gaga. But Lady Gaga isn't playing.

(10,091 posts)Stop the madness, people.
She can sing, she can dance, she has style; she has been one of biggest stars in the world for nearly 30 years.
She likes to piss people off, but she pisses off all the right people on purpose. She was clearly joking.
And she has like 15-20 songs everyone in the western world knows by heart.
You don't have to like her, but acting like she's devoid of talent or unworthy of respect is crazy talk.

(223 posts)I don't like her music...just my opinion
all the times I have heard her called 'old' and washed up here ... bleh

(52,317 posts)her marketing, self-promotion, and envelope-pushing talents are legendary, but her singing is passable at best. and she's always said that her product was the whole package, not the vocals. the dancing, the videos, the image, etc.
the real secret to her musical success is her EAR, not her voice.
she knows an infectious beat or a catchy tune or provocative lyrics when she hears it, and she knows to avoid songs that are beyond her limited vocal talents and she takes that and runs with it.
her singing is just good enough to get through those songs, which are NOT remotely challenging vocally.
if you want to really cringe, just imagine her singing something like "rolling in the deep" or "i will always love you". she wouldn't pass an american idol audition, for crying out loud.

(10,091 posts)I read somewhere she knocked out Crazy For You in one take, sight-unseen.
Worst thing about AI is that suddenly everyone's an armchair A&R. Madonna may not be the strongest singer in the world, but she's a pro vocalist who is a better singer than she gets credit for.

(24,096 posts)I don't know what the big deal is.
but if one hates Madonna and doesn't know what her politics are I guess it would be a good enough reason to pile on her.

(13,992 posts)As to her politics
meh
Whisp
(24,096 posts)sheesh.
she looks great if you ask me. she can wear anything or nothing and still look awesome.
and what is she and every woman supposed to do to stop the age process? die? hide in a closet after age 32, 29, 25?

(13,992 posts)And learning to sing would be a plus.

(24,096 posts)you can decide not to dress like a 15 year old and keep your nose out of others dressing habits. She's an entertainer, a star, what, you want her to wear Mom jeans and a robe with curlers in her hair?

(21,925 posts)but I'm really not a fan of pop music. What she said about Obama being a Moslem is bizarre and sounds tongue in cheek, but if she can convince her fans to vote for him I think its great.

(20,600 posts)I remember when it first came out, I was a young teen and loved that song. A much later song by her, La Isla Bonita, is another favorite. Some of her other music I don't care much for.

(25,415 posts)But that was the 80's. She has some good songs but never had a ton of talent. She seems a bit desperate these days, though I think she looks great for her age.
