Mitt Romney just *can't* be this bad. I mean...when *W* looks better by comparison, you have to wonder what's up their sleeves.
Normally, they're just brazen with their antics, like voter suppression everywhere there's a tea baggin' governor, but still, I am left thinking of some sort of jedi mind tricky-craziness that they have something *big* coming.
Or maybe they're hoping for the "don't hit 'em too hard" sympathy vote? Like when the schoolyard bully gets the ever lovin' crap beat out of him and somehow, you're left feeling sorry for the bastard? Is *that* their plan?
Oh, and Chuck Todd is a right wing tool, and why I am thinking of these crazy schemes. He has many paths to a Romney win. Maybe "the Force" is with him? Maybe this Netanyahu stunt is a precursor to their October surprise?
I am seriously starting to think they're so bad, they're good.

(53,235 posts)doesn't mean the PTB will let it happen.
Something truly dreadful must be going to happen in the world, and Obama must take the fall for it.

...it so hard to believe that? I mean, let go of the fear of the big bad scary all powerful Republican Party. They've lost before. They have a party full of idiots, including the last Republican VP candidate.
Romney's startling confession on taxes (even Ryan seems to do a double take)

(16,230 posts)Are you saying that the release of that video was planned?
I can't see any reason for them to do that. I think that what happened was that he was the best of those who were willing to run; a bunch of losers.

(7,932 posts)Bush was close the the bottom but was not the bottom. They don't have anyone in their party except rich people, many of who inherited their wealth, and stupid, gullible people. Mittens in the best they got, other then someone who is 100% Nazi, who will openly call for the extermination of the poor people, gay people, african americans, and every liberal.

(12,799 posts)Polls look good, Romney looks bad. Our ideas are gaining traction. So we will always look for the dark lining in the silver cloud.
P.S. Romney IS this bad.

(23,765 posts)that it could be impossible to rig the national election. The thing that worries me more is all the Senate and House races..we're so busy keying in on the presidential race that they steal the Senate and keep the House...I think that that is a more likely scenario at this point.

(47,586 posts)were complacent in 2010, probably basking in the glow of the 2008 victory. Republicans took over many state governments and took back the House. We have good reason to always wonder what they are up to now. As dumb and inept as they often seem, republicans can be extremely crafty and devastating.

(10,857 posts)To steal an election in the United States, you have to be close enough to steal it--see Ohio, 2004.
The President has very carefully positioned himself on the correct side of every issue that breaks sane/loon. He owns the maturity, the sanity, the compassion, the truth.
This is how we're going to protect ourselves against election theft, by amassing an overwhelming majority of support. It has made President Obama far more centrist a President than I think he would be if he were not assailed at every turn, but if the plan keeps moving as it inexorably has so far, he will have two short years starting in 2015 to get something done.

(17,651 posts)I guess you caught him on MSNBC this morning standing in front of HIS electoral map pointing to Romney's win or something.
Went straight to his Facebook page and posted that I thought he would fit right in over at Fox News.
Stay aware, keep eyes and hears open for strange goings on and report what you see, counter lies with truth and GOTV when you can!

(4,238 posts)I absolutely HATE hearing about the polls. I fear it will only make our side complacent, resulting in them staying home on election day, while firing up the republicans to get to the voting booth. And while I realize that the majority of republicans don't even like their candidate, there are enough of them out there that hate ours enough to make a difference.

(9,464 posts)We know our Romney here in Massachusetts. He is THAT BAD. The only reasons he won the governorship here was that he had a weak opponent who was fighting scandals in the State Treasurer's office, and he lied a lot. Mass had a couple of moderate Dem governors before Romney, and Romney sold himself to voters as being just like them.

(23,671 posts)..... that they had no serious intentions of trying to win the WH this year.
I think they had planned on their nominee being a diversion so they could concentrate on the down ticket races to gain the Senate, but Romney and his campaign is so bad its damaging the GOP brand itself.

(34,845 posts)There is no 'they' there. The GOP is simply falling to pieces. We should celebrate, not, as someone said, look for a dark lining in a silver cloud.

(12,799 posts)The polls are rigged to make us feel complacent and suppress our vote. Surely no Democrat will show up at the polls now, so 'they' will be free to rig the election at will. The GOP and our corporate masters own the world and have planned our destiny until the end of days. Conspirators are all around us and nothing is as it appears. NOTHING! There is no hope left in the world. Doom and Gloom! Doom and Gloom!
Pardon me, because I am beginning to find it tiresome. It grates on my nerves and depresses my enthusiasm for what really is an exciting and fun election season.

(37,161 posts)...: shamelessness at launching smear campaigns while pretending not to, flipping positions on a dime when convenient (while pretending to be rock steady), and a willingness to tear down the very institutions the claim to revere just to get more power. They've had better dirty tricksters and once upon a time had a better program for innovation in ways of fund raising and targeting voters, but it's not everything and the second part is past its peak. Meanwhile, the ground has been shifting beneath their feet and tricks that used to get instant response are wearing thinner.
They're still a danger, but they're just not that smart. Once you consider the Gong Show they've turned their party apparatus into, the various internal forces with their party and how those parts push against each other and on us, they've been due for a complete clusterfuck. They've built that, and they may be getting it this year.

(32,090 posts)and I think that is one thing Obama excels at - he always takes the high road.
As long as he does that and the campaign isn't too cocky we should be OK.
If we mercilessly taunt them after every ridiculous thing they say folks may feel sorry for them as the underdogs. People don't like bullies.

No campaign is this amateurish.

(7,820 posts)However, I don't believe Kerry or Romney intentionally threw/are throwing their elections. I do think the GOP establishment is waiting for 2016.
TDale313
(7,820 posts)wrote this year's presidential race off a long time ago. The big guns were waiting until next time. And unlike the last few cycles, it seems like the msm and even Fox can't muster the energy to try and make Romney/ Ryan look viable. Let's be honest- I think there are some in the GOP who won't mind having Obama around as a fundraising tool for four more years and who actually know he's a centrist.
What I'm not sure they counted on was the the Stench would drift down ticket
