What do conservatives want to do about Iran?

Do they really want ANOTHER war that we can't afford and will never get out of? Are they that fucking stupid? Did they learn nothing from Iraq and Afghanistan?

If Iran got nukes would they be dumb enough to use them? Does Ahmadinejad even have the support of his people? Did all those people who were rioting in the streets just 2 years ago just suddenly embrace him and his agenda completely?

Is RobMe dumb enough to give them their war? I would think not, he would see it like a business transaction and see that it would be a net loss. I would think he would make aggressive postures as politically expedient but avoid engagement. But now I'm not so sure.

The same players who brought us the Iraq war are the same ones who want a replay, this time for war on Iran.It is like an obsession,Iran was on the table for attack after Iraq, way before Bush even came into office.I wonder who is going to be the next after Iran,Dibs, anyone?

13. There was a former CIA agent with experience in Iran on Charlie Rose or some such show

It wasn't a mainstream show. Anyway, he said the reason for going was in order to get to Iran we had to go through Iraq, which was supposed to have been a cakewalk. It's all been blown out of the water now. It's why the US built the huge embassy and base, etc. His last name is Bauer I think (hints of 24?) and he wrote this scenario as a novel. The CIA won't allow agents to write r/l situations but will allow the agents to novelize them.

I guess the GOP doesn't really care either way that wars are impossible to get out of. They just hand them off to Democratic administrations and then point the finger from the other side for a while. All while their corporate buddies keep raking in the dough.

Of course there are a lot of Democrats who are in on the scam too.

weak and unpatriotic. The only way I see this ending is if people finally begin to see that the most important thing about the fall of an empire is overstretch. In Paul Kennedy's book he shows that the great empires all spent so much on wars around the world that they could no longer pay for the basics at home. Sounds very familiar to me. Our nation has been gutted of jobs, infrastructure, a middle class and money in our pockets to spend.

Nothing short of a regime instigated and/or abetted by the US would completely eliminate the threat of Iran developing nuclear weapons and a bombing campaign by US and/or Israel would likely just make them mad, increase the Mullahs' hold on power, stoke more chaos and unrest in the ME, and STRENGTHEN their resolve to develop nuclear weapons in the future. In short, lots of likely downsides and very few potential benefits. Using peaceful means to convince them to abandon the project would be best course of action but Romney/Republicans seem like they're itching to pull the trigger for a military strike- or at least giving Israel the green light to start one and promising to back them up however they want us to.

Start a religious war with Muslims in the ME so the Jesus comes back converts the Jews and Muslims and kills the rest. It is in their book.

(1) Smash Iran's capability to ever build nuclear weapons.

(2) Ensure Israel's survival since they view Israel as our only ally in the ME.

(3) Punish Iran for Iran's humiliation of the US in 1979 when they took our people hostage.
