ROFL! Fox's Kilmeade Accidentally Asks Dick Morris The Obvious Question About Polls.

Fox News and the rest of the Right Wing Noise Machine continue their desperate damage control operation of claiming "Don't believe any of these polls!" Without this effort, wingnuts would get discouraged and stay home on election day, assuming a helpless fetal position on the couch and wondering if they've got enough survival rations and ammo.

Due to sheer embarrassment, they've put aside the "It's all part of a vast, left wing media conspiracy" narrative (all but Limbaugh, of course) and finally settled on a trope they can all parrot without feeling like complete idiots.

"They're using a 2008 'turnout model."

I even saw poor, pathetic Rudi Giulianni saying this a few minutes ago.

You can turn this into a DRINKING GAME.
Go to the bar, and chug your drink every time a conservative talking head says "They're using a 2008 turnout model..." to explain Romney's decline in the polls. We know they all get the same talking points memos, and go around repeating the same phrases, like Zontar's Zombies, without even changing the words. So, you may as well have some fun watching it.

Anyway, for some bizarre reason Brian Kilmeade accidentally asked Dick Morris the obvious question, while Morris was reading from that script, and Morris is completely flummoxed.

The question? "If all of the polls are inaccurate in showing Romney's decline, how do you explain THE TREND? Why did THE SAME POLLS show Romney and Obama dead even a few weeks ago?"

Morris looks like he's just seen a ghost. Fumbles for a few minutes, and then starts blathering about "Um..er...well...I think they're RE-WEIGHTING THE DATA...and..um...WTF, whose side are you ON!?"

Take a look. It's hilarious! Kilmead asks the question at the 1:40 mark.

There may be some truth in what is being said. They look at past voting to determine who is likely to vote. If the Republicans have managed to disqualify some of the voters who voted regularly in the past -- like elderly people, like people of color, etc., then maybe the outcome could contrast with the poll results.

..."polls don't matter, it doesn't matter who wins in telephone polling, because those people aren't being caged, aren't being required to show i.d". If a pollster calls you and you say you're voting for Obama, what difference does that make if on election day you are turned away?.. The ground game, the GOTV, is more important than anything else because it has to make up for the suppression.

That way they could simultaneously get:
A) An accurate picture of voter sentiment. and
B) An accurate picture of how much the Republican voter suppression efforts may effect the outcome.

I've spot checked a few vs exit polls in 2008. I've seen a few matching the 2008 exit polls and I've seen a number where the Dem participation is down by 4 points for example. With Dem enthusiasm polling up and rising to match or exceed the GOP in many of the polls I've seen, it can't possibly explain the polls being off as much as Morris claims.

Past clairvoyance by Morris includes:

past turnout. They just phone people at random, ask if they intend to vote (likely voters) and then ask them questions. There is such a thing as stratified polling, where you look at the composition of the population and then go out of your way to LOOK for a certain number of respondents from each category and ask them what they think. But I don't think they do that for election polling. Just things like marketing products.

They're hoping their voter suppression efforts will be enough to steal a series of races, and their illegal operations obviously aren't reflected in traditional projections.

Rasmussen factors in voter suppression and crooked, Deibold voting machines. If you do that, the election becomes close enough for them to steal.
