(6,101 posts)I am petrified that on election night all the Repuke controlled Sec of States will all magically flip their voting machines to give Rmoney and edge
He is so goddam confident that he is going to win - just like Bush the Idiot knew he was going to win Florida
What will we do if that happens? will we allow it again? will we allow a theft of our democracy and play nice like Gore did?
I am bracing myself for this and asking, what will I do?

(23,297 posts)"Pay no attention to the polls, we're winning." That way, when they steal it, no one will be too surprised. The only thing we can hope is that they will be so bold, they make BIG mistakes and get caught. It would end the party as we know it for several generations.

(79,302 posts)and are ready to FIGHT if that pull that shit again.
they did it in 2004 in Ohio and Kerry was only too happy to clasp defeat quicker than you could say I have your back
I truly think this is their plain again, only on a MASSIVE SCALE that we have not yet seen

(79,302 posts)one thing tho: Barack Obama is NO John Kerry!!

(7,820 posts)fairly close for them to steal it. I am absolutely concerned about vote-flipping, voter suppression, and other ways Repubs will try to rig the election. That said, while they can put their thumbs on the scale, it's gonna be tough to just write off huge disparity between the polls and the "results" on election night. Which is part of why I am comfortable with raising expectations about Obama's chances.

(11,304 posts)kind of makes you wonder if they are going to flip the machines again. Obama has to win by a landslide for republicans to believe it.

Now, therefore, I, Gerald R. Ford, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from July (January) 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this eighth day of September, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and seventy-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and ninety-ninth.

(22,541 posts)Oh, they were never Dems. Always right wing. But now they're fucking crazy with hate now that that motherfucking hate-filled money-driven group is around. They used to be at least normal on the surface, not embarrassingly racist and bigoted against LGBTQs.
I'm so hurt and angry.

(12,618 posts)Waterboarding them, bombing their homes, invading their neighborhoods with tanks, ramming down their doors and terrorizing their families with armored vehicles and troops, saturating their environments with depleted uranium, forcing them to die in the streets with no health care, making them work shitty jobs with substandard pay, denying them their right to vote, imprisoning them for years on end with no rights or trial, all of these things would be Republicans getting their just deserts.
However, since those things will probably never happen to them, I'm settle for them getting their asses kicked in elections. I think I gave you a few ideas there though. Republicans have done all those things and many more to countless thousands.

(28,498 posts)However, an eyebrow-raising portion of this book came at the prologue where Draper detailed that several top Republican lawmakers, on the night of President Obama's inauguration in 2009, planned ways to undermine his agenda. According to Sam Stein of The Huffington Post:
According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).
For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama's legislative platform.
"If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority," Draper quotes McCarthy as saying. "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign."

The GOP will keep moving to the right until they go right over the cliff into oblivion. Its simple evolution; adapt or die.
They made their choice, so fuck em.
