Romney and the GOP are on the brink of a catastrophic loss of confidence.

They are on the verge of a "run on the banks" kind of phenomenon, with dejected voters staying home, SuperPAC money going downticket or sitting on the sidelines entirely, and big Democratic coattails. So I think the bullshit about "all these polls have the wrong party ID composition" is a desperate attempt to forestall or prevent this, to prevent the Fox News faithful from seeing that it's over and tuning out.

It's one thing to see someone like Dick Morris mouthing this stuff, even most freepers realize he just gets paid for telling right wingers what they want to hear. But it's yet another to hear Karl Rove go the Baghdad Bob route as I watched him do on Fox News tonight where he claimed that all the polling was wrong because of party ID and claiming that he saw Ohio and Florida as tossups. He's presented his state map strictly based on polling so far, I wonder if he will continue to do so now.

To see the full slate of Fox News heavy hitters like Rove pimping this "skewed polls" line shows me they are bailing water down in the bilge of the USS GOP.

...and I must say that it was outrageously pathetic. All of this nonsense about the polls being all wrong and skewed to favor Obama. It is so ridiculous, but ignorant Fix News viewers will lap it up.

Dick Morris just laid out a vey convoluted poll scenario. He claims that the numbers of African Americans and other favorable groups are weighted up to reflect who pollsters believe will actually show up and vote. Polls are not conducted in this manner. At this point, they're just making shit up.

It's f'n crazy.

I agree that the Repubs are doing serious damage control. That are attempting to salvage votes left in their base.

Limbaugh, Hannity, all right-wing radio and Fox are working furiously to convince the base that they should still vote.

They won't say it, but they know Romney will lose. At this point they seem to be trying to convince the base to vote, so they don't completely tank in the Congressional races. Of course that can't be said, but that is what they are doing.

Ann Romney was on Fox tonight and the far right is on overdrive, playing to the base. They know they've lost the indies, the Dems and many Repubs. All they can salvage now is the base, and urge them to vote so the House and Senate races don't go heavily for Democrats.
