Mitt's going all-in with an "I care" message...and the DNC has an absolutely LETHAL response.

Greg Sargent reports that, beginning on Friday, the Romney campaign will be bombarding nine swing states with the "I care about poor people" ad in order to counteract the impact of his devastating 47% remarks.

The DNC has an answer ready to go.

If I were on the Romney campaign, watching this ad would make all the blood fall out of my body.

Absolutely lethal.

I feel like Clinton's campaign innovation was 'triangulation', which I'm going to argue set the stage for the next 20 years of Dems attempting to follow the GOP to the right, seeking the 'center', while the GOP simultaneously drifted more and more right-ward, leaving us where we are today: with a Democratic party that would have been called center-right 40 years ago, and a GOP that is so far right that I'm not even sure 'left/right' applies, more like just 'shit-throwing crazy.'

Anyway, as much as I bag on Obama for wasting time 'reaching across the aisle', his campaigns haven't done that - they fight. They don't triangulate, either.

No one believed that he cared about poor people before this election began.

The Republican party doesn't care about poor people, and they spend a great deal of their time demonizing them and creating policies that punish them.

So, we've got all of that.

Then came the video--which cemented into fact--that Romney doesn't care about poor people.

So now--Romney is out on his "I care about poor people" tour.

This is so outrageously ridiculous that it's laughable.

Everyone damn well knows that Romney would not be doing this if not for that "47 percent" video. This is something that he would NEVER take up as an issue. EVER.

He looks like a damn fool.

for a state Senator campaign has a guy that can pass for moderate in NYS. In it he highlights his case for going after welfare cheats, specifically getting all punitive against people using their state money to get booze and lottery tickets. Of course this agitated crusader rabbit can relied upon to take that same passion against Wall Street and richer frauds? Not likely.

What struck me is how they are STILL forced to appeal to redneck rage to get to their base. Some of those idiots have primaried the State Senators who voted once or twice for Cuomo specifically on the gay marriage issue and knocked off one moderate. Now they are more scared of their base than of losing centrist votes in the general election? The GOP is one screwed up party.

Now Cuomo, whether like Obama you want to believe him sincere or not about supporting bipartisan repukes, is urging MacDonald the State senator who lost to run as an Independent with his ENDORSEMENT. That, with a poor Democrat running who is quietly indignant, maybe, with the prospect of benefiting from a split GOP and beating Cuomo's endorsement. The only chance he likely has. the Tea Party has spread its madness very well.

I think even the so called better GOP candidates could not have done the task this year of subverting and disposing of Tea Party incursions into actual leadership, but Romney has been a disaster for all sides. He is not alone, but any hope they might have had of surmounting the mad base and riding it as well is in complete disarray.

Still, once the dust has settled, no matter the damage, they will try to complete the hapless task of containing the senseless fusion energy of the crazy base and get their stupid competitive billionaires into effective mode. The Bush bosses and others will get another chance to "revitalize" the center and try something to curb their mad dogs, many of whom will still be in ugly power positions thanks to terrible politicking by the "better" demons of GOP nature. Devoid of ideology, phony in their base, destructive of their own goals, utterly worthless to the nation and its citizens, a mindless danger to the human race. Clinging to raw power and untouched hoards of money.

That the Dems had the perfect set up for an AD that would be devastating to Romney. All they had to do was string them together correctly. And LO! I saw this ad (here in Florida) yesterday!! I almost cheered because it will be hard for Romney to dispute the ad since it's mostly HIM doing all the talking. Like some have said, Romney spends a fair amount of time debating HIMSELF and this ad is the perfect example of how much he has contradicted himself.

His new found compassion is too little, too late. He couldn't make up his mind which Mitt he wanted to be so he has now gotten himself tied into a knot and it's a little too late to get a new image. Plus, he compounded the problem by picking Ryan who is as bad as he is.....if NOT WORSE. So this cake is probably well on the way to being baked. And so is his career as a politician. Maybe Ryan will join him in the Cayman Islands when they go lick their wounds since with any luck HIS political career is toast, too.

yeah, i see the disclaimer, but that's of limited value (some people are listening only, or can't read, or ignore fine print, etc.)

i don't care for the idea, even in obvious jest, of essentially putting someone else's signature on your own message.

for the rest of the ad, yes, using rmoney's own heatless and impolitic words against him is indeed devastating.
i'm glad the media isn't covering for him like they did for shrub -- shrub's "haves and have-mores" comment, for instance, should have been equally devastating, but the media didn't rake him over the coals for it as they should have.
