(10,749 posts)Can you even picture Rmoney doing that, much less having that effect?
Have you even seen a photo of Rmoney hugging anyone? It sure would be interesting to see such a photo, and the reaction of the huggee.
To quote Gail Collins (NYTimes) when reporting on what Rmoney wears to bed: Ewww.

Why is it that Americans don't notice the clear distinction between Democrats' and Republicans' attitudes? Democrats' is one of "concern and help" and Republicans' is one of "don't let the fuckers get the best of you"!

(8,933 posts)and seems so uncomfortable in his skin. trying so hard to figure out what he has to be in any situation to get folks to like him. he is terrible at it too. even the people voting for him don't seem to like him. In some ways I feel for the guy. I mean, he just can't seem to get it. Some things you cannot buy. I am not referring to the election. I am referring to relatability. Making people feel comfortable around you.

(71,611 posts)... how just this one experience will be imprinted in her memory forever. Just IMAGINE how it'd be IMPOSSIBLE for this to even happen 50 years ago ... and how UNIMAGINABLE it'd be for a lovely young African-American child like her to witness a BLACK President hugging a WHITE girl and having that girl be reduced to tears by the OVERWHELMING HONOR of it!
I'm SO, SO, SO, SO glad that, in my lifetime, I've been lucky enough to see the change from the HORROR I felt in the Jim Crow South in the 60s.
I keep "leaking" it gives me such a feeling of gratitude.

On the serious side, amazing photos. Beautiful and real. Romney couldn't come close to getting that reaction, but he's a toad. But I don't think Bill Clinton or even JFK could have caused that kid to react so emotionally overwhelmed by a simple hug. This president is the real deal. A good man. an inspirational man. Imperfect? Probably. But sincere, courageous, and loving.

(9 posts)The young girl is my daughter. Her shirt said, "Too young to vote, old enough to volunteer." She's a neighborhood team leader for President Obama and between school, work, & the campaign she puts in about 60 hours a week. Her hard work paid off with a VIP ticket to see him, she never dreamed what would come next! As he got closer to her she started to cry, so he just embraced her! We couldn't be more proud of our daughter or more proud of our President!

It covers up some of the massive inequities in society and helps us to forgive ourselves for the millions of people we have killed in the last 20 years.

(15,774 posts)The next to the last one where he is hugging the girl. I cracked up when I noticed the little girl's hand. She is reaching up to touch the President on the shoulder. Her little hand is between the two girls. I am sure she is thrilled just to be so close to just touch the President. I can so see little kids doing that.
