Perspectives on the outcome of the Presidential election, and how they differ?

On another forum I visit, that leans very heavily left, the posters there (or at least a majority of them) really honestly believe that Romney is going to win in November. Now, granted, it's not in the bag and I realize that, but I seriously am scratching my head here wondering what campaign, exactly, these people have been following? They're not uneducated people, they discuss political issues at length, so you'd think they would have seen the polling data which is pretty damning for Romney.

Is it just here at DU that people (who plan to vote Dem) think Romney is going to lose spectacularly? I don't get it. I really don't understand how you can look at the campaigns and the polls and come to the doom and gloom conclusion that Romney will be in the White House in January 2013. Am I missing something?

Maddow was one who consistently said on her radio show that she fully expected McCain to win.

As for others, a recent poll I heard about on MSNBC said most Americans believe Obama is going to win. So...

I love these people to death (it's a private forum), but my God, the hand wringing and panic and doomsday predictions are driving me nuts.

that if they think that way and do not vote it will be a fulfilling prophesy.

all cast their votes for Obama. I guess I'm just stunned at the negative attitudes, and wondering where in the hell they're coming from. I check the polls every stinking day, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see which way this election is going. Even without checking the polls, Romney's campaign has daily facepalm moments that just make me cringe so badly, I REALLY don't understand how anyone can watch that and say, "ooooh, we're so doomed, he's totally going to win." Um, what? Are we on the same planet?

Of republicans via Koch, Adelson and Rove stealing this election through software could be the answer. I have this same fear, especially when I hear so many right wing nuts masquerading as news anchors saying the polls are wrong.
