Look, I understand that some people are at work, and it's difficult to work when you're experiencing full-body warm fuzzies, so I thought I would warn everyone that this post could induce some seriously giddy emotions.
Please read with caution if you are in a place where control of your emotions is essential.
Warm-fuzzy full disclosures are spelled out before you read or watch the information in this post, which is organized by warm-fuzzy potency--as not to shock your system or cause involuntary "WhoooHooooos!!" in front of the boss. Plus, you don't want to scare your pets or small children, right?
FOR SMALL-SIZED WARM FUZZIES, READ THIS:
In Polk County (in the state of Iowa)--the county auditor's office received more than 30,000 requests for absentee ballots. In 2008, that number was 15,000.
...Excitement and participation in this election, in the state of Iowa, is VERY HIGH!
FOR MEDIUM-SIZED WARM FUZZIES, READ THIS
Data from the entire state of Iowa reveals that 119,000 Iowa Democrats requested absentee ballots, whereas only 25,000 Iowa Republicans requested absentee ballots--giving Democrats a 5:1 advantage over Republicans.
...Not only is excitement and participation high--Democrats are participating in VERY HIGH numbers!!
FOR GINORMOUS-SIZED, FULL-BODY WARM FUZZIES, WATCH THIS VIDEO OF OBAMA VOTERS GOING TO THE POLLS TODAY!!!
This video shows a few hundred Obama voters celebrating the first minutes on the *first day* (TODAY!!!) of early voting in Iowa.
Look at these fired-up voters! We're getting our vote ON, America!
Love the t-shirts, the enthusiasm and best of all--their support for the President as they "pull that lever" for Obama!

(24,411 posts)I usually vote on Election Day. Big tradition in our family. Hubby and I take the kids and make a huge deal out of it.
Can't wait!!!
Always fun to live in a swing state!

(49,992 posts)The IA Dems have been very active in getting the absentee vote too. Wife and I have been helping when we have time. Mike Gronstal told me the number of absentee votes for Democrats from 2010 (but I can't remember it ) but it was huge compared to the repubs.
It makes a huge difference.

(111,282 posts)Those absentee ballots are mostly for elderly, shut in, and shift workers, all of whom have been alarmed by Romney's 47% crack and Ryan's attacks on Social Security and Medicare. They're fired up, pissed off, and ready.
All you had to do this year was compare energy levels at the conventions. The GOPs sat rooted to their seats, golf clapping. The Democrats were jumping up and cheering.
Gone was the loopy hate of previous RNCs. One is tempted to think the drug's effects are finally wearing off. Or maybe the procedural wrangling that muzzled the Paul and Santorum factions had an effect. Whatever it was, it was the most lackluster convention I've ever seen.
I would be utterly gobsmacked to see real enthusiasm for Romney. I am not a bit surprised to see it for Obama.

(19,326 posts)for a massive turnout of majorly pissed-off voters of all stripes,
who are scared shitless of this idiot Team Rmoney ever getting
within 10 miles of the White House.
Thanks mostly to the fact that every time either Mitt or Ryan
open their mouths, the gaffs just keep coming, loud and clear.
Thank you Mr. Rmoney. Well done.

(24,411 posts)I totally agree. I think the Dems took one look at Romney/Ryan and said, "Oh HELL no!"
I think that the Dems are probably more mitivated than the Repubs. And after Romney's horrifying September, I bet they're all too depressed to go out and vote.
