I'm listening to the debate. Obama sounds hesitant and wonky. Romney sound more animated and confident.

If I were scoring on points, (45 minutes into the debate right now), I'd give it to Romney.

I'm just reporting what it sounds like without the benefit of video. Fortunately, most (or nearly all) the people tuning in are watching.

Seems like, sounds like is not the sort of thing that won people over during the conventions. People do need and understand facts and Obama is giving them.

I'm just saying that without video, it sounds as though Romney is the aggressor in this debate. He might look like an obnoxious d-nozzle, but I can't see that.

The winner of a debate is not the same as the winner of a fight. A debate is meant to be a discussion with facts, not fantasies. Contrary to our Karsashian American Media, its not who shaves, its not who winks, its not who says zingers.

I'm just saying that the President sounds a half-step slow, and Romney suddenly (but not unexpectedly) lying about the core of his economic plan seems to have caught Obama off guard. He probably wanted to scream, "You lying sack of crap!" but didn't (thankfully) because it would appear unPresidential.

I think the analysis and fact-checking will show that Romney has lied extravagantly tonight.

My biggest issue is, he's trying a little too hard to appeal to moderates and not quite enough to Democrats.

ninja partisan on Romney. The problem with that is the president risks alienating Indies. He's not a shock jock, he's the POTUS, and he has to be mindful of everything he says. The media has been warning all week that the president had to be careful not to come off as "arrogant". There's no point in mistakenly giving your opponent fresh ammo. Partisans on the left & right wanted "their guy" to go for the jugular.

I've been around here for awhile, and remember the '08 primaries & GE very well. Fears that candidate Obama needed to get tougher, he needed to say this, and he needed to say that. Much handwringing and nervous nelly-ism abounded.

Today we call him Mr. President.

And we do need the Indie vote this year. Thankfully, though, there are a LOT of smart Indies out there who I think will make the right choice if informed enough.
