(21,642 posts)This was like when some RW blowhard comes on a "news show" and talks over everyone else, making shit up as he goes along.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)His manner of speaking doesn't lend itself to quick, strong comebacks. He's a thinker, mulls things over, responds intelligently. That's not what a debate is.

(46,757 posts)Have you ever been in a situation where you had a nutcase like Romney trying to push you over the edge? Romney may just looking for that moment where Obama does something uncharacteristic. And then they'll blow it out of proportion.
WilliamPitt
(58,179 posts)Romney tells the $716 billion Medicare lie, the one Clinton made clear to everyone was a lie. I'd call him on it.
Romney runs down a long sad list of current economic woes. I would point to trickle-down economics and the GOP's record over the last decade and say "You built that."
That's what I'd do.

(449 posts)R's ready to pounce on every word Obama makes and each hit counts. Obama sounds repetitive while R sounds like he has a plan even though he doesn't. This is not going to go well for O imho, and I hope I'm wrong. It will be written all over MSNBC's faces post debate within the first few seconds... But R is on, and O did not bring his rally-ness to the debate.

(10,751 posts)...and it's worrying me. He IS rude, no doubt. But when he is talking about his policies he sounds forceful and convincing, especially for those who do not know the details and who do not realize that he has not supplied any of those details. Most people do not think that the 1% are trying to steal everything and set up a caste system in this country... they just don't get it.
OMG Romney just used the "you're not entitled to your own facts" line.

(10,751 posts)...but as has been proven time and time again, that makes little difference as to who wins the debate. Who wins is who is perceived to have won. I am disappointed that Romney appears more forceful, and the President appears more hesitant.
