My opinion, Romney is winning this debate :(

In the eyes of the media and the undecided voters all Romney had to do was NOT lose and he would have won this debate. It's a sad truth, but the truth.

Romney - Lies, lies, lies, rude, overbearing, loud, obnoxious and condescending.

Obama - Cool, calm, collected, in control of the facts and presidential.

The problem? Obama hasn't stood his ground loudly and firmly. He hasn't fought back strong and hard. The truth and all the positives are in Obama's camp but sadly the public often, perhaps usually, isn't swayed by 'facts'. They want to see someone loud and in charge, often the more overbearing the better. And when you have one candidate that doesn't seem to fight back, at least not from an emotional point of view, the 'feeling' is that they are letting themselves be walked all over.

I'm saying that the assholes often win solely because they speak louder and are unwilling to back down. The nice guy who follows all the rules, and rebuts ALL of his LIES with nothing but the truth but doesn't do so with force and a certain amount of their own contempt are often the ones who lose.

feel like I am watching a different debate. Romney is coming across as too arrogant, it may apeal to his base, the ( RW who are attracted to authoritarian Daddy-figures) but it is going to turn off women and independants. His interupting and taking over just makes him look like an asshole, not a leader. Look at his freaking face on the split screen for gawdsakes, he looks like a guy on trial for putting his neighbor in a wood chipper. Winning? Jeeezus.

The public by and large DOES want to see someone be a bit of an asshole. I don't mean a TOTAL asshole, but someone who is overconfident and even a bit condescending in their belief in themselves is very attractive to the "masses". And as sad as it is I think it's important not to forget the importance of your image to the "base mass".

Dumbya didn't do that either, but he won anyway. Obama looks like a president who knows what he's doing. Willard looks like an arrogant jackass who steamrolls anyone and everyone, including allies. Not someone you want handling a crisis of any sort.

The effect of being on stage with the President is helping him.

He hasn't done enough to close the gap. I don't see this being a game changer and he is down ~9% in Ohio right now.

Romney was very energized and Obama seemed a bit tired. I was disappointed that Obama wasn't more assertive and really let Romney hold the floor for most of the night. Carville is saying that "Romney looked like he wanted to be there, and Obama looked like he didn't wan't to be there." I agree.

Nevertheless, the campaign is not over and I think Obama needs to be more assertive (and yes, a little bit louder) going forward.
