Only the swing states matter at this point.

Obama has opened up a reasonable lead in most of the swing states. I imagine the internal polling must be looking as good or better than the public polls.

Obama didn't lose any ground in the blue states tonight, didn;t really gain any in the red states, most likely, either.

All that matters, for this debate and the rest of the campaign, is how he does in the handful of swing states that will decide this election. He didn't need to go aggressive to maintain, and possibly expand, his lead in the swing states. If this strategy fails, he has two more debates to bring out all the ammo lying in wait.

Come tomorrow, the fact checkers will have destroyed Mitt.
