Obama was smart NOT to mention the 47%

Because you know damn well Romney has spent much of the last two weeks of debate prep crafting some type of answer or "zinger". Romney was prepared with some type of answer and was ready to give it at moment's notice. Romney couldn't bring it up himself so he was waiting...expecting President Obama to do it.

By not bringing it up Obama accomplished 2 things: all that prep work wasted when it could have been spent on "specifics" and having Romney spend the entire 90 minutes of the debate on edge waiting for it to be brought up.

Don't get me wrong, I still think President Obama missed some opportunities but by not bringing up the obvious..what has dominated political news for the last couple of weeks and something you know Romney's coaches worked with him on, it threw Romney off...as evidenced by his flustered flailing demeanor.

story about him. of anything he would want to get rid of he brings up pbs. and big bird which represents something most of us grew up watching.

so what people saw was a guy who they might say won the debate but still came off horrible, unlikeable, rude, and still the same asshole who loves to fire people.

It seems to me they were trying to avoid obvious shots that Romney would be prepared for with some scripted "witty" comeback.

If Obama had brought up the video, Romney could have neutered that whole line of attack for the rest of the campaign with one of those "zingers" that the media would've creamed themselves over. Remember how Reagan killed the "age issue" with his "I won't make my opponent's youth and inexperience an issue" line during the debate?

Romney does his worst when he is speaking off the cuff, without his prepared lies. If Obama can continue to let him say whatever he thinks people want to hear, Romney will back himself into a corner.
