Chris Matthews made some good points last night

But what really bothers him is that Obama doesn't watch cable news. He mentioned it at least three or four times. He was dying for a chance to stick it to the President for not watching his TV show. This is obviously a point of pride for Chris.

And a silly one at that. Any President would be out of his mind to watch cable news. And Matthews devalues his own analysis by obsessing about it.

I don't watch cable news either. And if I did, one of the last things I would watch is Chris Matthews's silly ass show.

Chris and Big ED both did more damage with their complaining than anything Obama said.
Instead of calling out Romoney for his lies he put down Obama for not being aggressive enough, who's team is he on? You will never see a right wing pundit say that the other side won! Chris and Ed lost the spin game and as I said before the debate it is not who won the debate but who won the spin. And with all the complaining we are about to lose the spin.

As long as there is a profit motive to television, broadcasts will always seek revenue first. If the for profit news admitted that Romney's ass has already been handed to him, they would lose a lot of money over the next month. Thus, they will say or do whatever it takes to create a horse race out of this slaughter. Don't believe the hype.

that if Obama watched cable news he would have known the points romney was going to be going after and capitalized on that. After all that is what they do, over and over every day. They analyze the talking points.

That is why it is so easy for us to say "Hey, why didn't Obama say this or that"

It's because we have heard all this so much

You really want the President to watch MSNBC tapes at night after putting in 14-hour days running the country? C'mon.

So he was really, really upset and I can completely get with that. He mentioned cable news because that's where you hear the foul-mouthed truth of what extremes on both side think. If Obama thinks it's a calm, Brian Williams day out there, he's wrong. And that's what Matthews was getting at. He wants to be sure that Obama isn't overestimating the intelligence and natural curiosity of the independent electorate, tbh.

Lawrence O'Donnell was the calm, sober voice last night though.

What he was doing was expressing frustration with the fact that Obama did not fight back, and, if Obama had been watching his show, MSNBC in general, or other cable channels, he would have been more informed and would have been more ready and able to call out Romney. I agree with Chris.
