A few thoughts on the debate

A few thoughts on the debate...
Romney: Mr. President, all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land, not on government land. On government land, your administration has cut the number of permits and licenses in half. If I'm president, I'll double them, and also get the -- the oil from offshore and Alaska. And I'll bring that pipeline in from Canada.
And, by the way, I like coal. I'm going to make sure we can continue to burn clean coal. People in the coal industry feel like it's getting crushed by your policies. I want to get America and North America energy independent so we can create those jobs.

(Romney plans to turn over more government lands to big energy further polluting our environment and later openly mocks attempts to switch to clean sustainable energy. Yay.)

21:33:30: ROMNEY: Look, the revenue I get is by more people working, getting higher pay, paying more taxes. That's how we get growth and how we balance the budget.

(Romney wants workers to pay more)

ROMNEY: But -- but the idea that you get a break for shipping jobs overseas is simply not the case.

(I have to call BS on this from recent personal experience. VFX studios are
currently  laying off hundreds of well paid US workers because they get massive breaks for moving to places like Canada, China, Taiwan, India and Malaysia with studios telling US workers to move or lose their job. This is also what happened to traditional animation not long ago. I suspect other industries have experienced this as well?)

Romney: And, finally, Medicaid to states? I'm not quite sure where that came in, except this, which is, I would like to take the Medicaid dollars that go to states and say to a state, you're going to get what you got last year, plus inflation, plus 1 percent, and then you're going to manage your care for your poor in the way you think best.

(No strings attached! States can have that money and we should trust them to not divert money meant to provide care to the needy into other government expenditures?)

Romney: And the answer is neither the president nor I are proposing any changes for any current retirees or near retirees, either to Social Security or Medicare. So if you're 60 or around 60 or older, you don't need to listen any further.

(Romney won't take from those currently on social security but wants seniors to feel free to sell out their children and grandkids. He has every intention of screwing current workers.)

21:50:20: ROMNEY: The president said that the government can provide the service at lower cost and without a profit.
21:50:25: LEHRER: All right.
21:50:27: ROMNEY: If that's the case, then it will always be the best product that people can purchase.

(Can I purchase Medicare and be covered now?Pretty sure that is exactly what the health insurance industry most fears.)

Romney:  And the best course for health care is to do what we did in my state: craft a plan at the state level that fits the needs of the state. And then let's focus on getting the costs down for people, rather than raising it with the $2,500 additional premium.

(hmmm, I've not paid an extra premium. I have gotten a refund because of excessive administration costs and found that I no longer have to pay co-pays for certain visits. Anyone else seen healthcare savings under Obama's plan?)

22:22:05: ROMNEY: Mr. President, Mr. President, you're entitled as the president to your own airplane and to your own house, but not to your own facts

(Thank you Romney for reminding me you are a deluded asshole. After spewing a bunch of lies you have the nerve to call the President an entitled liar with his own facts. Look in the mirror Romney. You have no right to level those accusations at anyone but yourself.)

Looking forward to all the fact checkers weighing in on the debate today.

But I get told I'm wrong when I argue that raising taxes and adding regulations costs US jobs.

We need to completely reform our tax system (not necessarily raise or lower them - depends on the entire reform package).
