"Ok,
So, the country is more politically polarized now than it has been since before my grandparent were born and here I am feeling like one of the only idiots who sees that what we really have is a choice between corporately sponsored candidate "A" and corporately sponsored candidate "B". Neither of them are right and yet so many of my fellow Americans have taken such a strong stance to defend them, making enemies of the other. Neither of them is going to get us out of the middle east. Neither of them is going to change our dependency on big oil. Neither of them is going to outlaw abortion, stop illegal immigration, fix health care, heal the planet, make the banks play fair, make prayer mandatory in school, reduce military spending, secure social security, or pay down the debt in a significant way. It's Coke or Pepsi, Chevron or Shell. You've got two choices and two choices only and they both are owned by the same status quo loving, broken @$$ system. All hail the Corporate Republic in which we live.
I'm not saying don't vote, just shut up about it! President Obama is not a space alien and Mitt Romney doesn't care about you. All positive change will come from within so stop looking to the tv to tell you who to hate and who to trust. Thank you.
-End Rant"
While I understand his POV, I am highly disturbed at the EQUATING of the Right/Left when life as we know it will be drastically different if the Right wins...so here's my reply:
true? yes...corporate interests *do* hold many of the puppet strings. However, there is no equality between candidates or parties, sorry.
I find it frightening that you would equate such polarities...many people will be hurt by the extremism of the right, while the left is not as progressive as it could be, it still offers more relief for those who need it most...
I adore your ability to see the balanced point of view - But I personally feel that we are at a major turning point between persecution of women and others and a collective vision for us all...

(12,287 posts)1. Hasn't Obama done some of the things he says in his rant
will never be done? So doesn't that make his whole reason for the rant moot?
AND I think to even SAY Romney is Pepsi to Obama's Coke is offensive, personally.
ETA: I guess Romney would be Mtn. Dew or Ginger Ale instead...
