That is the overwhelming reaction to the debate from my circle...and trust me...as an active duty military person, my circle is definitely NOT all "left-wing" liberals.
One guy, a slightly right-leaning person, said; "all that was missing was a plaid sportcoat".
I'm not blind, or closed-minded. Romney's style took the debate. I'm not arguing that point...but...it was the same kind of performance we've all seen from people in a briefing room, conference, or "used car sales lot". They may control the debate, but in the aftermath, you begin to see the lies, distortions and "style over substance" nature of the performance.
Shakespeare described it beautifully; "Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
Us military members have a different term; "Potato Chips for the brain"
Not only was the guy on stage NOT the person you'd "want to have a beer with." In the right setting...in the right bar...he's the kind of guy you'd be tempted to punch in the face...An insufferable bore

(6,960 posts)Did you ever encounter one of those salesman at a high pressure dealership that got you to give him your car keys when you took a test drive in a new car, then when you got back threatened to throw your keys on the roof of the building because he was so sure that he was going to sell you the car of your dreams?
One time I was naive enough to visit one of those kinds of dealerships -- never again.
That is the kind of salesman Rmoney reminds me of -- he'll do and say almost anything to close the deal.
This characteristic of Rmoney will be, in the end, the personality trait that will sink him.
He cannot be trusted; he is a champion flip-flopper; he is a top-rate phony.
