Democrats Deploy Big Bird To Romney Rally

via @buzzfeed
statement from Obama spokeswoman Lis Smith:
On Wednesday night, Mitt Romney said hell bring down the national deficit by making tough, presidential decisions to cut unnecessary spending. But instead of suggesting that we end subsidies to big oil companies or crack down on Wall Street, Romney targeted the Public Broadcasting System.
And in doing so, Romney appears to have ruffled a few feathers. To ask Romney why exactly hes willing to end the subsidy for PBS, which is the home to beloved television shows like Sesame Street, but not for big oil companies, Big Bird himself will fly into Abingdon, Virginia today to make a guest appearance at Romneys rally. To catch a glimpse of Big Bird before Romney ends his 43-year career, keep an eye out the for big, friendly bird as he chirps his way through todays rally.
. . . and the Democratic National Committee releases a new web video mocking Romney for wanting to cut the subsidy for PBS. Furry politics.

(17,651 posts)Mitt has said how many times that he thought kids benefited from Head Start Programs ( he's a flip flopper I know).
Well Mitt, kids actually learn from Sesame Street - they learn numbers, the alphabet, words, sentences; they are also exposed to and learn valuable social skills that they'll use when they enter Head Start or kindergarten programs.
It costs the parents and kids nothing because it is free tv and is a drop of rain in the budget ocean.
He best try to walk this one back though I fear this thing has blown up so big it'll be impossible to stamp down.
Fuck you Mitt!!

(32,822 posts)Back when I was a kid there was a creepy show called "David and Goliath" about a boy and his dog. The boy and dog would get in trouble, then a whole lot of preaching would go on, then magically everything was all better.

(11,417 posts)the old farts that attend Romney rallies.
They were around in the sixties and the Vietnam war just as I was. I don't understand how they can go through the same 40 some years and not pick up a little enlightenment along the way.

I'm glad the story is starting to turn on Romney's phony, yet still spiteful 'ideas' for lowering the deficit.

(13,110 posts)Awesome photo.
Romney is the real life joker.
Playing a real life villain does not upset him in the least.
He is proud he turned a fictional character into reality.

(6,336 posts)And lucky for me I am not at the Rmoney rally as I'm working for the farmer in Abingdon that is trying to unseat a teabagger in Congress.
If I was not working, I would have totally dressed up as Big Bird.

(8,839 posts)specifically Big Bird.
Spent the other evening at friends with a new kindergardner and read with him a bedtime story from one of his books.
Asked "Oly" if he knew his ABCs. "Oly" said he learned them in Head Start and started some rhymes which I assume were from Sesame Street or a similar program. Sheesh when I started at the same elementary school back in the 50s, we did not have kindergarden much less Head Start. Sometimes I find "Oly" hard to follow when he speaks but he ennunciated Head Start perfectly and is so proud to be in regular school.

(2 posts)How about a mix-recording along the lines of the one that they did when Reagan had his infamous quote about outlawaing Russia?:
"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."
Instead, have the mix-recording about "No More Big Bird"
