If you noticed my title "breaking news a known liar cheats" my point is he did not need notes to lie he is very good at lying. I looked at the "proof" and all I can say is it maybe notes or notes on a hanky or just a hanky. If you think pushing this story will help our cause then go for it, for myself I feel that the big story today is the UE # and watching the right go bat shit crazy over them. In any case I am no right winger and I do respect for facts and proof I also respect the DU posters as well. No need to call someone who see things differently a right winger.

That's what we are doing. There is enough curious activity to warrant a request for the truth.

It is important to know if a man running for President of The United States is a bold ass cheat. It speaks a lot about character.

We have found something questionable and we need more answers than the "hankie" one. The hankie appears to only be a cover.

And most of us here can cover both the unemployment news and the question of foul play at the same time without need to focus on just one.

If you are being called names, I apologize. Happens a lot to newbies because of a known troll problem.

In my mind if we are going to follow this line of attack the key point is not that MittWhit brought "notes" but that he can not be trusted because he broke his word by breaking the agreed upon rules by bring something to the stage. That fits the narrative that Romoney lies and can not be trusted, but if we get side tracked into a debate as to was it notes or a hanky we risk getting caught in the weeds and lose focus on Mitt's character.

It was just as you have described.

Highly suspicious that he goes back to the podium like that to gather up his stuff, while the POTUS just leaves his things there and walks off the stage w/the First Lady.

Another thing I noticed, that does not seem to have been brought up, is what happened when the families were gathered there together talking. There was a tall man in a suit, not sure if it was one of Romney's sons or perhaps a campaign worker, but in any event, he was clearly w/the Romneys. I noticed him apparently glancing at the podium for a second or two, perhaps to make sure the evidence was not in full view. If Romney did have a cheat sheet, this guy may have known about it, and it might have been pre-planned that he cover it up (or grab it) if necessary. Of course this is pure speculation, since he took no action... may have just been glancing out of curiosity for all we know.

One thing I do wonder about though, is this: Could it be possible that what we saw Romney pull out of his pocket in the beginning be both a hankie and a cheat sheet? One side blank, the other w/notes perhaps? The reason I say this is because at about the 1.25.00 mark, when the President was making his final remarks, I saw Romney wipe his upper lip with what appeared to be a folded paper napkin. It looked consistent with (half) the size of whatever it was he had pulled out of his pocket in the beginning.

Romney may very well had been finished with his notes at that point, because all he had left to do was make his final remarks. It might have been pre-planned that he fold it up then to further hide it, and to create plausible deniability by using it like a hanky, just in case anyone picked up on what he was doing at both the beginning and end.

Even when it seemed awkward given all the people there and his getting in the way? He seemed to stay right at his side which I found awkward. As if he was glued to him. I just want to see another angle, to ensure this is real because if it is, this could be very damning for his campaign and the republicans which will be catastrophic for them. (not that I give a damn) I want to be sure before jumping on this.

Since (a) lying is hard work, and (b) "hard work" doesn't appear to be in Romney's DNA, it would seem that (c) he would have to have been telling the truth. Yet we know that (d) he was lying his ass off. "How do I resolve this apparent contradiction?" I asked myself, while sipping on my favorite meditating beverage, Guinness Extra Stout with a side shot of tequila.

After my third meditating beverage, I derived the answer: I have concluded that (e) lying is so ingrained in him that it's effortless. Q.E.D. He may even find it fun, as evidenced by his perma-smirk throughout the event.

That, or his penchant for eating babies confers some immunity, but I don't want to be the one spreading unverified rumors.

where there appeared to be some type of listening device attached to the great mindless emperor. If he did have a cheat sheet, he must have mistakenly stated 43 million unemployed, when it actually is something like twelve million. or maybe, his cheat sheet was just full of bullshite that his trainers created.

Before the debate there were several discussions about Romney's debate ritual. That piece of paper was mentioned before the debate by the Atlantic. http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2012/10/03/tonight-mitt-romney-will-write-dad-on-a-piece-of-paper-to-remind-himself-of-his-father (Not that I'm trying to pooh-pooh....but this was already out there so it's not really a "gotcha".)

I just didn't want anyone to look stupid putting it out there when it's already been vetted prior to the debate. Whether you believe it or not is up to you, but you should be informed about something before you just throw it out there. At least, that's the way I feel about it. Otherwise, it gives fodder to the other side.

I thought it was a rather stupid thing to say, but I was trying to say that in a "nice" way. Apparently, that's not the way people "roll" here. Next time, I'll be more blunt and just say "You really shouldn't set yourself up to look stupid by reporting something that has already been shot down. We don't need a circle jerk. We've got enough real solid facts on our side without trying to create some kind of looney conspiracy theory."

Better?

He remembers his papers, goes back and does alot of folding and fiddling. (The big papers are what they given to write notes).Goes back to the group, nervously tries to stuff them in right and left breast pockets, don't fit, so he shoves them off onto his son.

Very odd and awkward how he rushed back to his lectern as Lehrer climbed the stage. And the fiddling with the papers and handing off of them to his son. Now it makes sense. If anyone somehow discovers the cheat notes at this point, he can feign innocence and claim they must be his son's. Note the grandiose gesturing and heart-palming afterward, almost as if he's trying to divert attention from his son now that said son has the papers in his possession.

Fucking cheat and liar.

the son he hands off the papers to, gives him a look (about 1:41) as they walk off, like they just pulled off a bank job. Also, the C-Span end of debate clip has a big blue banner at the bottom, so you can't see Romney fiddling with (folding?) the papers as he retrieves them. The AlJezeera video has no banner.

Cheating is perfect alignment with Robme's moral character, but then cheating is and has been done and dismissed by Republicans for as long as I can remember. It's what they do, like a virus killing it's host. There's bigger fish to fry on today's menu, not the least which is the jobs numbers. The other thought that comes to mind, is that what magical piece of info could have a "cheat sheet" have contained that really would have been significant? Hey I could be wrong.

The two really do form a much more complete picture.

Sidenote: In the original epic romney cheat-gate thread, I found the photo in my siggie there. It really shows that this was not a hanky and IF only people would look closer look at this particular photo, it is obvious something on the podium doesn't belong.

Mitt Romney picked up a number of sheets of paper when he went to the podium to collect his notes after the debate. It doesn't showing him tearing the paper from the pad.

The aid that picked up Obama's notes picked up the whole pad.

When did Romney tear sheets off the pad? Or were they the sheets he laid down and unfolded?

I don't really think it matters if he cheated, but I do love a good mystery.
