Look...you can call Wednesday's debacle a failure by President Obama, or a victory by Romney, but, face it...90 percent of the stuff he rattled off was just flat out bullshit, and he got called on it hard the day afterward by fact checkers and several mainstream media outlets.
I have to give Romney credit. He has that stone cold sales pitch down to a science, and he was depending on the American people to love themselves a good line of BS. Really now - no one becomes the head scalper of one of the largest corporate raiding firms in history by not being able to completely snow job a room full of stockholders and potential investors.
The debate format and setup was designed to be right in his wheelhouse, and with the moderator lobbing him softballs all night, he naturally couldn't help but trying his best to knock a few in to the upper deck. The problem for the mittster, is that it appears by today's maps that it came off with swing-state voters as a sales pitch and a snow job. It also showcased perfectly how Romney is a born sociopath who cares absolutely not one iota of doing anything but closing the deal, and will lie, cheat, steal, and trample over his wife, kids, and base-voters to accomplish that. In the economic environment of the past 6 years, and a country full of people that were just treated to downsizing, corporate raiding, and watching as their livelihoods get shipped over to China and India, he really did not do himself any bit of good. He came off as an arrogant unfeeling jerk and a bully. Another corporate raider in a long line of them, that are more interested in selling the US off piece by piece and shipping the profits off to the Caymans. On a personal note, as one who has been on the receiving end of what a people like the Willard do to companies after he acquires them, I am in a not so unique position of knowing a line a shit being being sold to me after a takeover, and that is what the guy came off to me as.
I was actually thinking yesterday, that this was a complete and unmitigated fail by Obama's campaign staff, who basically prepped him to debate John McCain instead of Mitt Romney. Starting to think after seeing this today, that handing Romney enough rope to hang himself, may have been a better strategy.
