DAMN. I apologize, Mr. President.

I confess - I was one of the "concerned" crew after the debate - wringing my hands, gnashing my teeth, rending my garments because President Obama didn't refute Romney's lies and call him on his 47% bullshit. Oh, I calmed down by the end of the night, but I still couldn't fathom how he could stand there so calmly while Mitt spewed lies.

But a funny thing happened the next day. All I heard (from the few people who are brave enough to talk politics with me) was, "Why did Obama let Mitt lie?" and "Why did Obama let Mitt talk all over him?" They were frustrated with Obama. But they were MAD at Romney. Romney came off looking like a liar. Worse, a bully. They didn't come out and say it. Hell, it might not have even occurred to them on a conscious level. But the way they phrased their questions said it loud and clear.

And then, when I read about Romney's visit with our boy Hannity, and his oh-so-sincere, "Come on, baby...you know I didn't mean it" announcement, it finally hit me.

You'll notice I didn't say "I saw it", because like so many others, I didn't see it. And that was the point. Romney was counting on a shot at rolling out his canned apology in front of an audience of 65 million people. Hell, it was probably written down on that piece of paper he smuggled in. He craved that opening so badly he could taste it. And Obama didn't give it to him.

Poor Mitt...he could have debuted that whopper in front of the world. Instead...well, at least his audience was better than that of a late-night infomercial. What a setback.

So Mr. President, I apologize. All these years I've chuckled along with everyone else over phrases like "rope-a-dope" and "multi-dimensional chess", but I didn't really get it. I mean, I knew you were smart, but...DAMN, dude. Your strategy went light years beyond smart.
Your strategy was fucking brilliant.

Although...sorry. I can't give you credit for the Big Bird debacle. That was ALL Mitt.

Ahhh, what the hell. Welcome back.

Obama ain't perfect, but he is the best we've had in a long damn time. He knows what he's doing, he just needs more help.

It does seem like it was Obama's plan all along. Take heat this round since Romney was expected to win, then kick Romney down in the next debate. I'm hoping and praying that we see the Obama we know and love bring-it in this second debate!

you may be disappointed again.

Obama is not about kicking people down. Especially when the person is question is someone like Mitt, who merely needs to open his mouth to sabotage himself.

All that the President needs to do is to continue to look "Presidential" which is not difficult for him to do. Of the two candidates on stage on Wednesday night, he was certainly the better at that, and whatever the instant reactions or RW joy at Mitten's overbearing and lying bully-boy performance, the consensus on Obama's presence and his substance (what arguably little substance there was in the "debate" at all), is thoroughly seeping into the national consciousness.

wants Obama to BRING-IT with conviction, determination and pride. Be proud to be there. Be present. Be vibrant.

It really does change the perspective of things. I missed the debates because I had to work and have only seen small snippets of them. My intention was to watch them afterward, but I decided to pass. The next one I will be watching for sure.
