Charlie Fuqua, Arkansas Legislative Candidate, Endorses Death Penalty For Rebellious Children

Charlie Fuqua, the Republican candidate for the Arkansas House of Representatives who called for expelling Muslims from the United States in his book, also wrote in support for instituting the death penalty for "rebellious children."

In "God's Law," Fuqua's 2012 book, the candidate wrote that while parents love their children, a process could be set up to allow for the institution of the death penalty for "rebellious children," according to the Arkansas Times. Fuqua, who is anti-abortion, points out that the course of action involved in sentencing a child to death is described in the Bible and would involve judicial approval. While it is unlikely that many parents would seek to have their children killed by the government, Fuqua wrote, such power would serve as a way to stop rebellious children.

According to the Arkansas Times, Fuqua wrote:

Harrison is where the national director of one of the branches of the KKK lives, and its headquarters are in nearby Zinc (Boone County). But Mr. Fuqua was originally active in Benton and Washington counties, and now apparently lives in Batesville, in White County. So while the Harrison area has much to be ashamed of regarding race relations, Charlie Fuqua is apparently not one of its products.

I have been trying to find out where the esteemed pos was located. I saw the statement from the state party; but have there been any other stories about this?

Somehow or other, we live in an area that does NOT get Arkansas info...we have been routed to MISSOURI! It's crazy.

(in looking this up, discovered he has the same name as one of the original "Ink Spots&quot

Charles (Charlie) Fuqua is a baby boomer that grew up in a working class family, in a working class neighborhood. He has worked as a landscape laborer, machine shop production worker, truck driver, and boiler tender. After serving in the military, he went to college on the G.I. Bill. Beginning at Missouri Baptist College, Charlie served as president of the sophomore class and vice-president of the Student Service Club. He then transferred to the University of Missouri. After graduating from the School of Education with a degree in biology, he taught biology, chemistry, and physics. From research he moved into agricultural chemical sales and worked as a sales representative for 10 years.

At age 40 he went to law school at the University of Arkansas. While attending law school he served as law clerk for Judge Thurston Thompson. Upon graduating, he received an award for making the most significant contribution in the field of health law, and was the first attorney in his graduating class to make partner in an established law firm. While practicing law, he also served as Adjunct Professor of Business Law at John Brown University. After becoming involved in politics, he won the servant of the year award from the Washington County Republican Party.

In 1997, Charlie was elected to the Arkansas Legislature and served on the Judiciary and Children and Families Committees. As Arkansas State Representative, he was awarded the “Friend Of The Family” award from the Arkansas Christian Coalition. He has also been a qualified Gideon Church speaker, board member and legal counsel for the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Rogers, Arkansas, board member for the Richardson Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a mediation panelist for the Christian Justice Center of Northwest Arkansas, and coach of a youth roller hockey team.
