My friend Greg, my friend for 44 years, passed away Friday AM in Tucson. He was a staunch Democrat. A wonderful and generous man who only got angry if you said "Bush" or "Cheney" or "Rice". He never had a computer, although he liked to hear the latest from DU from me. A certain voter for PBO and Cremona and Ron Barber. He had been staying in Tucson lately, looking after his 87 year old mom. The last time he made it down here to Sierra Vista was to exercise his right to vote in the primary. Adios Gregorio

Losing a friend is hard enough - losing a friend of 44 years must be even harder.
I am very, very sorry.

(15,369 posts)My beloved aunt, 95 years young this year, passed away. We had begun to think, however improbable, that she was indestructible. She had outlived seven of her siblings, five of them younger, had no major health problems, was able to go everywhere and participate in everything and her mind was as clear as a bell right up to the end. She went peacefully in her sleep. Her going literally represented the end of an era, of many eras, in fact.
She did not usually take political sides and was a peacemaker who saw good in almost everyone. I was able to visit her this summer and I am so glad that I did. She made it clear that she was determined to vote for President Obama this election.
My deepest sympathies to you on the death of your friend!

(7,395 posts)What a great tribute, to say of a man that he was a staunch Democrat, and a wonderful and generous man.
It's getting better all the time. Each of us that falls is replaced by a fresh soul, or two.
It's the Good Fight.

(697 posts)But then ........ Thank God ....... he was a Democrat ........... Had he been a republican, he might still be voting in this election.
Come to think of it .......... he might just still be. Never count out the Republican shenanigans.
