I used to think that Romney's eventual move to the middle would cost him votes

I no longer believe that. The hatred of Obama is mighty powerful with these people.

If Romney ate a live baby on national TV, you'd have neanderthals like John Sununu and RNC PR BS singing the praises of juicy baby consumption on the talking head shows.

Frankly, I wish that Mitt will say what he really thinks, instead of saying what he thinks whomever he's talking to is wanting to him to say.

If Romney moves to the middle, it will disarm many of the arguments against him by the Obama campaign. They will have nothing to run against - unless they go personal?

You are correct in that he will not lose the Tea Baggers or the right-wingers no matter how far he moves to the middle, so long as it looks like he can beat Obama.

It could be another long debate night if the Obama campaign does not adapt.
