Chris Matthews begs celebrities to step up for Obama

Today, Monday, Matthews begged Hollywood and other celebrities to come forward and be vocal in support of Obama.

He suggested they go home, to the home town where their voices are amplified, and be a surrogate for Obama.

And he said the Hardball door is open to one and all to advocate on the air. He noted that the time is short.

He should have been talking about Big Bird instead of yelling at POTUS, post-debate. But it seems that his diabetes always gets the best of him around debate season....very odd how this happens. It happened when he co-hosted with Olbermann and KO was trying to get him to eat a frigging donut.

to expensive colleges, it's sometimes hard for people to hold on to their integrity.

Ask Tim Russert....oops, that's a no can do. He lived fast and died young. His kid was able to go to BC, though--not cheap, that joint. And, Timmy had a nice vacation joint on Nantucket, just like Chris Matthews does (see last paragraph at the provided article)--those don't go for a song, either. You can see Tim's "modest" home at this link: http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080614/NEWS/806140350

He lived the good life, for the short period of time it lasted, once he got on board with Jack Welch.

But anyway--back to Tweety... there's his GOP roots in PA, and this:

Despite having worked for Democrats, Matthews has said, "I'm more conservative than people think I am.... I voted for George W. in 2000."[11] Salon.com has called him the "most conservative voice" on MSNBC's primetime lineup.[12] Matthews has been accused by media watchdogs[13] of having panels of guests that skew to the right and of supporting Republicans in his own questions and comments.[14][15] Conversely, he is also often criticized by conservatives for his opposition to the Iraq War among other stances he took against the Bush administration.

Tip O'Neill would have beaten his ass if he knew he voted for Porgie.

He comes from a Republican family, and he's the only one in his bunch who ever affiliated with the Dems (he worked for Tip for quite a few years, he also wrote for Carter).

But he's not a poor starving journalist--not by a long shot. His wife used to do the news in DC, now she's a high powered bigwig for the rMoney-Mormon-connection-Marriott enterprise. Marriott endorsed rMoney by saying he was a nice guy who helped him tie up his powerboat on Lake Winnepesaukee.

Tweety has a house on Nantucket too--just like Timmy Russert did. And he's got THREE kids--kids cost money. Particulary when they go off to school, and I think two of 'em are in college now. And he's an ardent, forceful Roman Catholic.

Who thought Tim Russert would ever have a George Bush button under his lapel?

That Jack Welch is a nasty-ass influence. He knows how to turn an idealist into a materialistic pig, apparently...it's his strong suit.

GE apparently brings BAD things to light in the NBC-franchise newsrooms.

Don't count on Tweety. People made that mistake with Russert. I keep my eye on him.

“President Obama is fighting for changes that grow the economy from the middle out and help all Americans succeed—jobs, education, health reform, the DREAM Act, equal pay for women. Mitt Romney wants to take us back to yesterday.” - Eva Longoria at the Convention.

Very well-said, I think.

If anything, they've worked AGAINST us because they're painted as "Hollywood limousine liberals" by republicans. I know Matthews heart is in the right place but this ploy isn't worth talking about. People don't vote because George Clooney tells them that Obama is a great guy...and people who love Clooney are gonna vote for Obama anyway...

someone like James Taylor singing in North Carolina would help to bring out a crowd including some who might come more for the music. but it might leave them inspired to vote for the candidate.

I actually think the celebrity line up hurts with regular people. It grates on my nerves... but I'm not one to overreact.
