It's a close election and it's not defeatism to acknowledge that.

And yes, the debate had a big impact. According to Gallup it was a historic defeat for Obama in that the margin of his loss, according to their polling, was the largest they'd ever recorded.

Close to 70 million people watched that debate and for a significant number that was their introduction to rMoney. Yes, I found his performance hyper, smug, stunningly dishonest and rude, but a shitload of voters who watched didn't see it that way. They saw a confident candidate who has moderate positions on a host of issues. Was he lying? Shit yes. Does that matter? Probably not. The debate has changed the dynamics of the race. President Obama and his team know that and I believe they'll adjust the campaign to deal with that change. I fervently hope they'll be successful.

You can cite the Gallop poll that shows the President up 5 yesterday, but there are a slew of other national and state polls out there that show that he's lost ground. And the MSM is, of course, doing their utmost to show that the President is now lagging in the polls. My best guess is that the President holds a slight edge at this point, but it's close. Too close for comfort and I'm not going to pretend that it's not.

This country is closely divided. There are voters who upon seeing what they perceive to be a strong debate performance will gravitate toward the person they view as the winner. Lies are difficult to counter. rMoney knows that. He's good at this shit. He's incredibly cynical when it comes to the electorate.

There is nothing rMoney won't do to "win" the Presidency. There is nothing republicans won't do. And they've already done a lot. they'll do more.

3. And?

The MSM tells me this so I will tune in and watch their commercials.

Why are you trying to convince me of this?

I guess it depends on your definition of "close". When I think of "close" elections I think of elections where the polls* actually flip back and forth, rather than narrow and widen. "Close" elections to me mean a narrow edge in the electoral college. This election is not close...yet. It may become so, particularly if Obama doesn't come out all Yosemite Sam to please the media, but we're not there yet IMO.

*polls that do not disproportionately represent white, Southern conservatives.

4. You don't have a 10 point swing in polls overnight!!!!!
Tue Oct 9, 2012, 07:30 AM
Oct 2012

While they were all screaming the bullshit about cooking the books on the employment numbers they were busy behind the curtin fixing the polls in Romneys favor.

Things just don't swing that far that fast just because Romeny was a BULLY on stage?

5. But they can swing 3-4 points in a week.

That's about how far up the president was... And the race now appears to be almost tied.

Little point in panic... But even less point in ignoring reality. We have a race on our hands.

15. All I am seeing in the media is Romney is leading
Tue Oct 9, 2012, 08:17 AM

Here is just one example:

A poll conducted by the Pew Research Center found Romney leading Obama, 49 to 45 percent, among likely voters. That sort of result would mark a remarkable reversal in fortunes for Romney, who's trailed Obama in most national polls to date.

That is the only example. Another may be added today, but it's hardly all that's out in the media.

6. Obama won. And if Biden loses, shut the F up and say he won. Loose lips sink ships.

we don't need one NON-Obama core voter to win 270.

fuck the bravado. fuck the macho shit.

that is redmeat republican red.

FDR won 4 terms and he was handicapped in a wheel chair.

THERE ARE NO SWING VOTERS and ignore everything

AND YES, IT IS A 9 STEP CHESS GAME
YES, IT IS A ROPE-A-DOPE
YES, IT IS A FOOTBALL ANALOGY

And you have a right to your opinion, but for the seemingly 100th time, I will argue against your opinion on this.

We don't need the red states.
Ignore them if you wish.

Think of "Children of the Damned" And think of a brick wall, a brick wall
don't let them see you blink
don't let them see your negative thoughts

think of a brick wall and celebrate OUR victory 11/6/2012- unless you actually want Herr Mittens to win.

remember- Al Gore won all 3 debates, so did Kerry, so did Lloyd Bentsen-ALL OF THEM WERE LOSERS WHEN IT COUNTED MOST. But it shows- debates mean nothing at all.

God, I would hate to be in an emergency situation with all you debbie downers and sad sams and cutten Runners. (not saying anyone here in particular).

And if you want to have fun- start promoting Gary Johnson to the idiots on the other side.
Let him be the 2012 Nadertraitor.
(and to think some still idolize that idiot).

10. I have a feeling 28 more days of this back/forth. 192 is the magic number
Tue Oct 9, 2012, 08:04 AM
Oct 2012

a glass is half empty to the debbie downers
a glass if half full to the Obama fans.

and we only need 1/2 not whole.

and we only need 192 before 8pm california time (11pm eastern).
Unless you think Calfornia/Hawaii/Washington and Oregon is going to switch sides.

11. Your OP was alerted on, fyi.
Tue Oct 9, 2012, 08:11 AM

The vote was 5-1 to leave it alone.

Blows my mind that even one person thought to hide it...and then, of course, there was the pathetic fool who alerted in the first place.

DU has been sucking hard since the debate. Hard. An alert on your OP is the perfect example of how hard. That hard.

There's a dominant psychology to hyper-partisanship which you, I, and a few others here seem to be immune too. I won't pretend to understand it.
