Suppose Obama Wins? What happens to the GOP?

For the record, I believe he will, and I want him to.

The question I have though is that I also believe that the Republicans will NOT go down gracefully - in many respects, if the GOP gets swept from the presidency, the senate and the house, what do you believe that both the GOP itself and the hard core supporters will do? There is so much rancor and hatred at this point coming from the Right that I cannot see them going into the wilderness easily.

Stepped up their attacks in the media...

Formed the Tea Party...

Doubled down on every kind of crazy there is...

Swayed the public enough that we actually have to worry about a Romney win...

I expect they'll do more of the same. And they'll have lots of Koch money to do it with.

They're maniacal in their hatred of minorities, anything that involves giving people a hand up, having intellectual discussions, etc. etc. ad infinitum.

Expect even more over the top mania should Obama win. Question is, when will the MSM call these morans out and turn public opinion completely against their Un-American ways.

Then they'd better move on issues and programs! No more "off the table;" No more "compromise." JUST DO IT!!!

Strengthen Social Security and Medicare;
Strengthen jobs program;
Build the Middle Class;
Build the unions;
Protect public education;
Protect the environment'
Let the Bush tax cuts expire...this time!!!

Do what you were elected/reelected to do!

KICK BUTT AND TAKE NAMES!!!

If so, don't worry about them. They'll skitter back under their fridges and hide for another 4 years. Then whichever Democrat runs to replace Obama will become the new anti-Christ, most liberal, socialist, marxist, anti-American traitor in history who will surely spell Americas doom grabbing their guns and turning America from a libertarian paradise to a totalitarian communist hellhole.

so dig in, volunteer, and give what you can financially, if that's an option.

There's an opportunity to push the opponent off the cliff.

Which is how I compete.

Which is why, you know, I was pissed that... Obama didn't push his opponent off the cliff.

They should have faded off into obscurity in '08 but the MSM would not allow it to happen.
They know it is in their best interest to keep the GOP alive no matter what.

Let them become a permanent minority party with 120 seats in the House and 36 seats in the Senate. They can stamp their feet all they want and it won't do a damn bit of good.

Romney was the fiscal conservative "safe" Republicans last bet to win. If he loses again they will go further full grifter like 2010. Regionally the Republican party is very strong in many places. Nationally they are party where the house can't come together to do anything for the last two years. My guess is the Cantor side will win out with a Romney loss. Then people like Santorum become much more likely to run in four years.

If they lose the White House but win the Senate and hold the Congress we're in for 2 years of deadlock and vetoes. If they lose the White House and fail to take the Senate but hold the House it'll be pretty much what we have now...gridlock with an occasional "compromise" to keep the lights on but no big ticket items going anywhere.

If the rushpublicans lose the House, then we'll see lots of knives. Boner surely will be sent back to play golf and the battle for the "soul" of the party will be on. While they may expect to lose the White House, they're not prepared to lose the House. So if you wanna piss in their cornflakes, that's the place to do it...

The party will lose decent republicans that are hanging on the party by the fingernails. I bumped into a certified antiabortion woman today that said she was undecided on who to vote for. I am 100% sure she voted for republican Presidential candidates during the past.

Oh wait, were you waiting for an answer like "Holy shit they're going to storm the gates at every nuclear weapons facility and try to get hold of the nukes so they can hold the country hostage!" or something like that?

Who's going into the wilderness?

I guess you weren't here in '08 when every third post on the day after the election was "OMG the 'puglican party is going to wither away and die!" or "That's IT! They're DONE FOR!!!" or "We just witnessed the END of the 'puglican party!!!".

They lost, bigtime. Inauguration day saw a Democratic President, a Democratic House, and a Democratic Senate. The world didn't end, and the puglicans didn't riot.

I suspect that the day after Election Day this year will be pretty much the same.
