I need to say something about CNN and its "poll"...

rant on

CNN is not even trying to hide its bias.

Note: I was in the gym, so it's not my fault that the channel was on CNN.

Every single story, from the debate and Robme's "bounce," to what's going on in Syria, to what happened in Lybia...EVERY SINGLE STORY AND HEADLINE was NEGATIVE for Obama.

I repeat: Every single story and/or headline was negative/biased against the president.

The roundtable was stacked with milquetoast Democrats like Adrian Fenty. He and another loser, Carly Fiorina, wanted to give the president "advice". Now ain't that rich: These two fucking losers giving the president advice. Really?!??!

Then, apparently Republicans are "demanding" an investigation of the Lybian incident and want to subpoena the president and Susan Rice as witnesses. Huh? Of course the interview was very sympathetic to the Republican.

Then, the discussion turned to how Mitt Romney is "pouncing" the president in LV numbers, even among women, but especially among men (read: WHITE men)

Finally, it was all about Mitt Romney. His foreign policy speech. His heartfelt story about a friend who was killed in Lybia. His now "winning" status. His leadership. His upcoming interview with Wolf Blitzer...

I couldn't even believe it. CNN might as well be the new Faux News. It was transparent. So blatant! Just as blatant as Faux!!

Just felt like ranting. No wonder so many here are feeling defeated.

My advice: Turn the t.v. off. It'll drive you absolutely crazy, and I was only working out for an hour!!!

/rant off

CNN is a shadow of its former self - hanging on by stealing a few FOX viewers.

Personally, I stopped watching them when they fired Aaron Brown.

Are we the only people (here at DU) who think it's sad that we can only get real news from Comedy Central (and sites like DU on the Internet)?

Habits die hard for some, I guess.

I'm sure they are over joyed about Romney's comeback. They helped cause it.

I think we have to start to get beyond the "Romney won the 1st debate" meme which has pervaded the news of late. It is time for us to fight back and one of the ways we can do that is to stop talking about that god damn debate. If you notice anything the MSM is all to ready to keep the debate meme in the news as long as they possibly can.

Obama won that debate on facts but we will never be able to win a campaign on that. We need to move to the next news cycle. Hopefully Uncle Joe will help us with that tomorrow night. Fingers crossed.... but remember much of the media (including CNN) is already quite aligned against him and will take the "Ryan upset Biden" meme as far as they possibly can if it has any wings at all.

They just fuckin' played a clip for 5 minutes or something showing Romney giving a speech and choking up about a veteran he met on the campaign, that later on was killed in Afghanistan. A great commercial to show Mitt's human side.

It's almost as if the news stations do the Gish thing themselves. They pile it on so thick and so high that people like us who know the facts end up with our brains blowing up. That must have been how Obama felt at that fucking so-called debate.

while there was quite a bit of bias, it was not as blatant as it is now.

I'd say in the last 2 years there has been a precipitous free fall towards shitty, biased, fox-news-like 'reporting'. And not just biased reporting - but shitty reporting. Zero follow ups, patting themselves on the backs, trying to 'make' the news in their image shitty. Fluff-shitty. False-equivalence shitty. Suck the brains out of your head shitty.

I've almost completely stopped - turn it on once in awhile only re-confirms my suspicions on the rightward drift, er, sprint.

It's no secret that they suck. It's also no secret why they have no viewers, yet they continue on the the loser path. There must be some big power/money behind them.

CNN needs an extreme news makeover.

They were talking about the state polls and spun the whole fucking thing as being bad for President Obama. "Romney's behind in Ohio, Wisconsin and New Hampshire, according to our new polls. Will Obama be able to recover from his debate performance? This sure is bad news for the Obama team." Ok, that's not a direct quote but it was the gist of it. They announced the poll results which had Pres Obama ahead and then talked as if he was losing. I turned the channel.

18. Right after 9/11 Wolf Blitzer was all Terror All of the Time.
Tue Oct 9, 2012, 07:24 PM

EVERY story was about terrorism with a cavalcade of stars and lesser fear mongers from "Security Services". One was even showing off his company's latest executive parachute. Anyway, there would be some story somewhere and "Cry Wolf" was on the case, telling his audience to see a terror connection even if there was none because that was the ONLY way for us to be safe is to IMAGINE the worse. A few hours of his show and you would be convinced there were al Qaeda cells EVERYWHERE. Suddenly a gang shooting in LA was considered to be linked by 12 degrees of Kevin Bacon to 9/11. The funniest one was when he had some sheriff on after a bank robbery. Wolf was trying to claim that one of the ways this vast fictional terror network that only he was reporting on was partly funded by robbing banks. The sheriff laughed in his face. He flat out popped the bubble and said this had nothing to do with terrorism. Wolf said, "Well IF it was, what would be the procedure?". The sheriff wasn't taking the bait and said it wasn't. Wolf then accused him of not knowing the procedure and that got him to talk about contacting the new Homeland Security and the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force and Wolf thanked him and got rid of him quick and then echoed that crap like it was actually happening.

He would go into every break with, "Stay tuned to CNN for all of your security needs" as he made you feel as insecure as possible.

When people say, "CNN isn't that bad" I remind them that a lot of regulars on FOX "News" were former CNN workers. Lou Dobbs, Greta Van Susteren, Bill Hemmer, and of course, Glenn Beck.
