The reason he writes DAD on a piece of paper, is to remind him that he needs to make his father proud...
I think this says a lot about Romney, about where his priorities lie as a man.
you might not think it's a big deal, but it really struck me as weird that this ritual had nothing to do with his being a DAD, but had to do with his Father who has passed away.
If I had 95 kids... even if I only had one kid, like I do, the DAD on the paper would be about them... about the ones that are here now, the ones that will be affected by my actions and decisions? Not by my own DAD, who is no longer here?

(19,339 posts)Maybe he's getting the broadcast there. Maybe it's kind of like how high school hockey-players say "Hi mom!" when they're introduced at the beginning of the state tournament.

(53,339 posts)Why didn't he write 'MOM and DAD'? Doesn't he want to make his mom proud of him, too?

(13,181 posts)He doesn't tell anyone. It's just between him and his old man. No one knows about it but Mitt. It's far, far to personal and meaningful for him to share it with anyone. That's why no one knows about it.

(27,461 posts)but seriously, you are right when you say I think it's not a big deal whose name Mitt writes down, because it is not a big deal. Besides, this is probably something Frank Luntz came up with for them to say.

(7,820 posts)Am I the only one who wonders if the main reason Romney even wants the job is that it's a bit of unfinished business on his father's part?
