STAY ALERT Dems: Libya, Cairo embassy attack timeline PROVES current GOP narrative is a LIE.

Keep the facts straight on Libya. The CAIRO embassy was being protested violently because of the film and the protests were spreading to OTHER embassies BEFORE the attack on Libyan consulate. The film HAD to be denounced and the fallout that was building into violence HAD to be shut down as diplomatically as possible before greater violence ensued or terror groups used the chaos of the protests as cover to repeat their fatal attacks.

The GOP want to keep conflating the reports to keep tv talkers confused along with the voters. They used this same technique to push this nation into war with Iraq by conflating reports to the point where many GOP voters believed Iraq was behind 9-11 and had been working with Bin Laden all along. Don't let GOP lies dominate this nation's narrative - fight back by keeping the facts straight whenever needed. CAIRO was the first embassy to report the eruption of violent protests of that anti-Muslim film. That was hours BEFORE the Libyan consulate was attacked.

Timeline:
"Basic timeline from embassy attacks and protests - Cairo reports of video protests preceded Benghazi attack.

A group of Coptic Christians released a baffling satirical video that mocked Muhummad. (my view - they wanted to agitate for war)

Early on Tuesday, the U.S. embassy in Egypt (home to many Coptics) releases a statement that "condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims." (The embassy itself, as CNBC reports, had been partially emptied before the statement was made.) The statement is tweeted at 6:11 a.m. Eastern time.

Protests break out at the embassy in Egypt. At 6:30 p.m. Eastern time, the embassy's Twitter account reiterates that it "stands by" the statement.

In the next few hours, as America's embassy in Benghazi, Libya, is attacked, the Obama administration and the State Department distance themselves from the Egyptian embassy's press release. The embassy's statement is disavowed; Hillary Clinton says this:

The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.

Politico's Byron Tau posted that at 10:06 p.m. ET.

At 10:09 p.m. ET, the Romney campaign sends out a statement to reporters. It's "embargoed until midnight tonight," i.e., until after the 9/11 anniversary.
Romney:
I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.

At 10:24, the campaign lifts the embargo and reporters start mentioning the statement.

At 12:01 a.m. ET, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus tweets:

"Obama sympathizes with attackers in Egypt. Sad and pathetic.">>>

1. Remember: Romney heard about Cairo embassy being protested because of the film, too, and that

is what prompted his stupid response. Don't let them now rewrite history as if the other protests weren't happening and the WH was only using the film as an excuse. To NOT deal with the fallout of that film would have led to even more tragic deaths all over the world.

3. One very important correction: it was a consulate, not an embassy, attacked in Benghazi.

Embassies tend to be large, fortress like structures guarded by US Marines. Consulates are street front affairs ranging from mansions to an office.

6. Hey Pro - if you can reword this in a way that gets more eyeballs, please do it.

The media needs a better grip on this story and so do the Dems - the GOP is lying their way on to higher ground - as usual.

13. Can I ask you what your involvement with this is? Did you initiate this timeline?

Seems to me that at best the information provided is going to be second or third hand, and prone to speculation and error.

14. Where's Cairo attack? Cairo embassy under attack because of that antiIslam film happened FIRST.

Looks to me like you're trying to develop a narrative that relies on the pretense that the RW extremist anti-Islam film was not part of the widespread protests and violence in the region. It is apparent that the film conveniently gave COVER to the RW extremist terrorists who used the opportunity of the spreading violence to mount their deadly attack on the consulate.
