I know Letterman has been taunting Rmoney for a long time to get him on his show. Last night I flipped over because I was OD'ing on the debate coverage. About three times Dave announced Rmoney and he walked out on stage and made silly comments and walked off. Now they only showed tight shots of Rmoney so it was hard to tell if he was really there or if they taped this somewhere else and just played it back.
I find it hard to believe that Rmoney would be in NY for the Letterman show the night of the VP debate. Yet I'm sure it was Rmoney. Actually it would have done Rmoney better if he agreed to come on the Letterman show and talk and be interviewed by Dave. His doing these little bits made him look silly and showed a lack of courage on his part to submit himself to a Dave interview. Not very presidential in my opinion. If he can't even talk one-on-one to Dave Letterman - how can he face world leaders in a crisis. He is a coward.
Also - Dave did the Top 10 on Ryan and his pictures of him working out. He really made Ryan out to look like a complete idiot. [On Edit] If you can get a video of last nights Top 10 - it's hilarious.
Early this morning I tried to google - "Romney on Letterman" and all I got were old hits when Dave was taunting Rmoney to come on the show. I saw nothing about an actual appearance last night on the show by Rmoney.
So I'm curious - what is the background story on this? Does anyone out there in DU'land know how this came about?

(2 posts)That was so weird. Agree must have been clips from somewhere else. Letterman set him up to tape them? Romney as usual stiff phoney awkward, then the strangest part was that Letterman didn't really acknowledge his "presence." I found it surreal, but funny. Left me wondering. I agree that it's strange that there's no reaction except here. Hello??

(32,086 posts)I believe it was a really good look-alike. This guy's sideburns were not gray like Romney's. The people running his campaign may be stupid, but I don't think he is. No way he'd agree to taping some one-sided thing that Dave could use against him.

(12,132 posts)but I can't tell you if it was really good CG* or a pre-taped thing but I know it wasn't Mittens on Letterman during the taping of that show.
*like these "bad lip-reading" versions of the candiadtes that have been coming out recently - it looks a lot like they are really saying what is coming out of the speakers but you know they aren't. Not sure how that's done - if any CG is used to smooth out the mouth so it matches the words or if it's just really good editing....or a look-alike as posted upstream...

(25,261 posts)Didn't Rmoney do a Top 10 on Letterman back during the primaries? So they just edited some clips of that and aired them last night. Whatever - they really made Rmoney out to look silly and portrayed him as the coward he is for not wanting to come on Letterman now.

(2 posts)I'm just amazed at how nicely Letterman slashes at Romney. I can't stand to watch Leno who constantly trash talks President Obama. Guess it just says people like people who are on their side (understatement)!
