MSM "fact checks" on debate are complete BS.

I keep reading fact checks that make it look like Biden was no less a liar than Ryan. But if you look at the details, it is complete BS. Here is one of many examples, this one from Politico:

Biden: “We immediately went out and rescued General Motors. … When that occurred, what did Romney do? Romney said, ‘No, let Detroit go bankrupt.’”

That’s a misquote.

Romney did author a November 2008 op-ed in The New York Times about the auto bailout that came with this headline: “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” But Romney didn’t write the headline, and he never used those words in his article.

Instead, the Republican’s idea for the then-tanking U.S. auto industry was for the federal government to get involved in a “managed bankruptcy” where GM, Ford and Chrysler could “shed excess labor, pension and real estate costs” while getting guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assurances for their car buyers that their warranties would still be good.

LOL. Why must we interpret Biden to quoting Romney? Is it possible that he was merely trying to briefly capture the essence of Romney's proposal? In the article in question, Romney did call for letting Detroit go bankrupt. So where is the dishonesty or inaccuracy? Only in the little literalist minds at Politico.

For every blatant Republican lie they call out, they will twist a Democratic statement in such a way as to make it seem not 100% true. Then they will say, "both sides do it".

Of Romney saying about the piece, "That's exactly what I said, 'Let Detroit go bankrupt.' They can't get away with that one.

It was spliced into an Obama ad, that video. You can YouTube it, or I'm sure a DU'er with a better memory can link it here.
