The city voted for Gore, Kerry and Obama.

Now, Knox COUNTY is redder than scarlet, but the city is quite blue.

To the OP: Sorry you didn't see all the Obama signs in the North and Southern parts of the city!

You could have stopped and said, "hi," to me!

if you can avoid the bumper stickers. As to Memphis, I'm a Beale Street addict and try to get there at least once a year. So many fascinating people and photo ops, good food, good bars, good hotels with tram services nearby and THE MUSIC! Blues and Jazz fan here and I'm in heaven just walking down the street listening to the cacophony of all the different styles being played in every nook and corner of that wonderful, wonderful street.

Did I say I like Beale Street in Memphis?

I am a musically oriented person also, everything from classic to jazz to R&B to neo-soul to progressive rock (and some 80s New Wave if I'm in the mood) can be found on my playlist. Memphis is a wonderful town in which to get your music on. The tax rates are also very low. We have our share of backwards reactionary RWers, but it seems to me they are ubiquitous. No matter where I go there always seems to be a contingent.

10. I live in Knoxville. It is pretty right wing, but the city did elect a pretty left leaning mayor.

By 2020 the electorate will be over 1/3 non-white (I hate that term but it is the norm).

At that point it will be very difficult for any (R) to win the Presidency without a much higher percentage of minority voters than the Republican party now receives.

I am not worried about 2020. 2012 still has my full attention.
