Reflected in the polls in the next few days
One thing the President must do is make it clear that his position verses romney's position on social security are not similar or the same.
He must emphasis the republican war against woman is through their actions. They want to stop providing funds to planned parenthood for women, many poor, mfor healthcare
They want to ban abortion, appoint federalist society supreme court justices
As for the presidents record, his actions prevented a total economic collapse, saved the American car industry, along with auxiliary jobs associated with it, started getting us out of the wars started by the republican, got obl, gave us the aca where 40 million uninsured, those with pre existing conditions, and a host of others are now covered.

(11,229 posts)Yes, Biden was great, and I hope he stopped the bleeding that is reflected in the polls.
But only Obama can undo the damage that was done. Obama has to confront Romney as a serial liar in the remaining debates, and that is a tricky task, because he is the President and can't let it all hang out as Biden did last night.

(11,229 posts)Why?
1. Because he is a black man and he can't risk the ABM reaction.
2. Because he is the President and has to not only act Presidential but BE Presidential.
This means he can't laugh at Romney, he can't interrupt him as much as Biden interrupted last night, etc. He has to be much more careful about his appearance in that split screen than Biden was last night.
Yes, he has to forcefully confront Romney on his lies but he has to do it carefully.

Ultimately, indeed, Obama is going to have to close the deal by his performances in the next two debates. No one is ever going to elect one side or the other in account of the running-mate, if they're not impressed with the candidate at the top of the ticket.

(1,127 posts)Both Romney and Osama hate our America. The president has a sworn duty to protect our country from the harm Romney will bring to it if elected. Romney's vision of our country does not include more than scraps for the majority of people. He needs to aggressively defend his presidency against lies.
