I just met a 40+ year old woman who didn't know what Roe v. Wade is.

Up front, I'm half her age and there's just not enough palm face in the world for this. Not really surprising that she's voting for Romney. Do you honestly want to know why?

Apparently, she thinks there needs to be more "turn over" so that presidents don't take so long in office, so that things get done quicker.

She also said that she didn't learn anything with the debates and that, "you know, they keep saying that each others a liar." So there's no side for her, because since everyone accuses everyone to be lying, it means that everyone really is, so there's no side to trust anyways.

I respect her you know, she's hard working and all. I also understand that I'm in a republican district anyways so I should expect this sort of thing. But I was stunned about how someone voting doesn't even know what Roe v. Wade is.

I mean really? Really!?

Video, not text from fact checkers or words from pundits.

Video.

Of.

Romney.

Irrefutable, easily digestible. Should've been released on Thursday morning, last week.

I wish the hell they'd stay home on election day, but their crooked preachers want those faith based dollars rolling in, so off to the polls they go in a cud chewing herd, election after election.

This society is increasingly uneducated and unaware. They swallow snake oil and go to the polls to vote for the snake oil peddlers.

One election year I asked a lady I worked with if she wanted me to fill in for her; if she needed to go and vote. She said, "Oh no, we don't vote.'

I thought perhaps I'd heard her wrong and I asked her what she meant. She laughed and said, "Oh, well, my family, we're not into those kind of things. We're not those kind of people."

I was about to ask her whether she thought that voting was an exercise only meant for the elite, and she was engaging in a type of reverse snobbery, but deep down I knew that this wasn't the case so I just dropped it. The fact is, she was never going to be interested in any thing beyond her front door.

As I started to look around, I noticed that there are indeed many people like that, willing or perhaps actually hoping that others will make those decisions for them.

All you have to do is watch those occasional vignettes on The Tonight Show (I don't watch it but every once in a while there will be a clip of this) or other shows where they go out and randomly "interview" people on the street.

I am always amazed at how uneducated, not necessarily stupid, but simply uninformed so many Americans are. They will ask simple questions like the name of the Vice President or show the person a map and ask them to identify Afghanistan or Iraq. The dearth of knowledge and even interest in the world around them is difficult to understand.

They are too busy watching Faux News and reality TV to have even the most remote curiosity about the "real" world out there.

news of fake news is not part of their life.

As to the map with Afghanistan, the one showing the US with no markings was stunning. A few pointed to the ATLANTIC.
