"I Don't Get Paid For Democrats"

In Reno, Nevada, a man doing voter registration asked a man to register as independent, "because I don't get paid for Democrats." And for some odd reason, the secretary of state doesn't seem all that interested in looking into the matter to see if any laws were broken:
