The most inappropriate show of support: Madonna, 54, dedicates onstage striptease to Pakistani girl

Clearly not content with flashing a nipple and 'ironically' calling Barack Obama a Muslim, Madonna has decided to wade in on the shooting of a Pakistani girl after she spoke out against the Taliban.

Madonna continued to use her 'MDNA Tour' to make yet another controversial statement by strip-teasing to 'show her support' for Malala Yousafzai, who was shot on a schoolbus for writing a blog about how important education is.

On her Wednesday night performance in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, the singer began by telling her audience that she wanted have a 'serious talk'.

According to Entertainment Today, she told fans that the news that the 14-year-old had been gunned down by the Taliban had made her 'cry'.

She said: 'The 14-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot on a schoolbus for writing a blog about how important education was to her.

'The Taliban stopped her bus and shot her. Do you understand the sickness and absurdity of this?'

She rallied the crowd by shouting at them to support education and those who help women.

But then the millionaire decided that this performance clearly was not a strong enough statement, and chose to 'dedicate' a strip tease to the girl, who is currently in a critical condition.

She turned her back to reveal 'Malala' written across it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Oh the memories, some best to forget! I met Genesis in LA the night of the LA riots. He said that he always felt the need to look over his shoulder in LA .. this was before I drove through the riots. Weird night. He had fled from England then over some charges. Timothy Leary was at this event as well. I still like their music, lots of variety! I always see them as the progenitor, much less mainstream than the bands that followed. Ensturzende Neubauten was at the same level kind of.

i'm glad she cares, publicly, and in her way, which is with controversy.

she IS controversy.

not only is she supporting the teen, she is slapping the face of the hateful religious bastards that did it, showing that women ARE going to be free, and the taliban's opinions about is irrelevant.

that ship has sailed, and all the fundys (including the american talibornigans) of the world have already lost this battle. it will just take longer for them to realize it, and many more will be hurt before they do. but we aren't going back.

it's unfortunate that her art is being twisted by those who are so eager to put her out to pasture. that says a lot more about her critics, than her.

the last thing we need is for those who have the pulpit to shut up and be marginalized because of their age. she, along with many others, are redefining age.

i'm a bit older than madonna, and still think she rocks. we have no intentions of going quietly, and no one can make us.

get used to it.

she could have just made a statement of support without bringing her naked butt into it.

nothing to do with her age. if she were still 25 it would be just as tacky.

madonna can strip til she's 100 for all i care. that's not the point.

In Malala's world, Madonna's "performance" would get her stoned for being "immodest"

As we speak, Malala's opponents will be seizing on this as an example of moral outrage.

Thanks, Madonna. You've made everything better for Malala.

gawd, the hate for this woman here is really unsettling. It's because she's over 50 and should retire and take up knitting I suppose. And wear long sleeved dresses, don't show her legs. Or be sexy.

It is stupidity..
The fact is, she is still rolling out memes that are NOT ALL AT GOOD 30 years ago.
As far as age goes, she may have sold a lot of records, but she will never be as respected a songwriter as Steve Nicks or Carole King, and she sure does not have the grace of a Tina Turner, Kate Bush or Cher, all of whom have aged better than Madonna did.

And don't even compare anyone, male or female, to Ann Wilson, a serious candidiate for the best rock vocalist alive, period.

And unlike a Lady Gaga or Alicia Keys, Madonna cannot read music, as opposed to these two that were compsing classic pieces when they were six.

Sun Oct 14, 2012, 06:27 AM

It's also the Pakistani people. And, to give the Daily Mail their due, they've got pictures of them in the report too. There is a lot of support for Malala in the country; people who are on the side of the girl, and girls' education, who are protesting against the fundamentalists. But they are also going to be embarrassed by Madonna wiggling her bare arse in public and saying "this is for freedom!". A story like this is a recruiting tool for the Taliban; they will just say "see? Empowerment of women means they'll strip off in public". And there'll be people in Pakistan - which is where the problem and solution actually is - who will drift back to the Taliban point of view, thanks to Madonna's latest concert gimmick.

Sometimes, westerners have got to realise that international relations aren't just about doing what feels good to themselves. We get this when it's Republicans beating their chests about attacking Iraq, Iran and so on; we should get it when it's a contest between moderates and extremists in another country. Some things we do are counter-productive.
