This nonpartisan study has been somewhat ignored, but it is worth bringing up in light Romney-Ryan's insistance that tax cuts to the rich are the key to spurring the economy.

President Obama and Romney have been fighting over taxes as part of the central economic focus of their campaign. Obama wants to raise taxes on those making more than $200,000 to help bring down the deficit, while Romney wants more tax cuts for everyone, including large tax cuts for the top tax bracket.
The Congressional Research Service weighed in with a new report analyzing tax rates since the end of World War II. The report couldnt be any worse for Romney and Republicans argument for more tax cuts for the top tax brackets.
There is not conclusive evidence, however, to substantiate a clear relationship between the 65-year steady reduction in the top tax rates and economic growth, the CRS reported. Analysis of such data suggests the reduction in the top tax rates have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth.

Yes, I know that Clinton signed the repeal of Glass-Steagoll, but it was created and passed by a Republican Congress whose lies convinced him it would be good for the economy. We know better, now.

(6,160 posts)The CRS continued, However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.
Take that, deluded Republican voter struggling to make ends meet.

(300 posts)against trickle economics. How is it that this reoccurring bullshit sandwich continues to have traction in the middle class? Part of the problem is the weak idea that the media should be fighting battles that the Democrats should be winning. But if you can't bring yourself to dispel verifiable falsehoods that are easily debunked by history then you may not be too interested in fighting or winning. Democrats seem more interested in perpetuating the trickle down myth with bipartisan deals and tepid criticism than destroying the myth. Everyone knows where the GOP stands. Democratic Party, please stand up and fight for the truth.

Also, I can start posing all of the various DNC speeches if any doubt remains. The problem is not what the Democrats are saying, but what the media is reporting. The media tends to portray the debate as simply he said, she said.
