Mitt Romney. The Most Vile Lie of All.

Sun Oct 14, 2012 at 04:33 AM PDT
Mitt Romney. The Most Vile Lie of All.
by LaFeminista

This is not a mere pants on fire lie.

“We don’t have a setting across this country where if you don’t have insurance, we just say to you, ‘Tough luck, you’re going to die when you have your heart attack,’  ” he said as he offered more hints as to what he would put in place of “Obamacare,” which he has pledged to repeal.

“No, you go to the hospital, you get treated, you get care, and it’s paid for, either by charity, the government or by the hospital. We don’t have people that become ill, who die in their apartment because they don’t have insurance.”

This is as heartless and disgusting a lie as is possible

From a Harvard study

The lack of health insurance is associated with as many as 44789 deaths per year in the United States

Or more simply put 1000 deaths for every one million uninsured each year.

So every year we refuse to accept the concept of universal health care, as every other civilized country has applied, this unnecessary death toll mounts. The right scream about the right to life and pro-life, yet this simple idea eludes them.

When you talk about repealing Obamacare in its entirety.

When you talk about eliminating planned parenthood.

You are condemning people to death.

You are condemning people to needless pain and misery.

You are creating millions of grieving relatives.

You are condemning people to economic oblivion.

This goes beyond mere political "untruth" and enters into the world of criminal negligence.

The reality is people are dying every day because the most expensive health care system in the world does not work. This health care system bleeds the economy dry and it destroys lives.

It is time that the politics of division ended and the reality of this nightmare laid bare. It is time for a health care system that serves all Americans.

So FU Mitt Romney and your disgusting lies.

5:01 AM PT: H/T to this addition in the comments

It's not only his most vile lie- (2+ / 0-)

it's also his most irresponsible. He told a national audience that if they use the ER for medical care, they won't have to pay for it. Too many people already believe that, and are shocked when the bills and collection notices arrive.

Spreading that lie is a great way to put even more people on the path to bankruptcy.

Since this is the only form of government which both ensures our Freedom and our Survival against those who would attempt to control life's necessities for profit and power...like water, air, energy, food, shelter and the control of pollution.

We are still able to vote and free to worship or not and start businesses etc but we join together in making sure everyone can share in making necessities available at cost for all. Just like libraries, police departments, fire departments, FDA, EPA. Public education etc...all socialist programs to ensure safe food and water. It works.

We should also have a 100% billionaire tax to curtail rampant greed. Just when is $999,000,000 not enough?

Since I got hurt on the job, they fired me and I lost our insurance.
Obviously, I dont think I'm going to die, but I DO hope I get better
So I dont have to put my family in debt.
So I'll call my doctor and see if he will call in some antibiotics,
I hope they are the 4 dollar kind.(fingers crossed)
If he wants to see me, I'll just not go,as we cant afford the doc visit.
I wish they could have kept me on just for the insurance.
I could afford to pay the group rate
but not the COBRA rate, that was 1560 a month.

The first time I had it it cost over 100K for ten days in the hospital.
Room and board were 35K alone.

Hi Ghost, how are you my friend?

I got canned for filing a short-term disability claim for my back. The company was forcing us to work 16 hour days for months, which absolutely ruined my back beyond repair. It got so bad I couldn't sleep and needed a walker to move. My back was in continuous spasm for months.

I went out on STD in May of 2011, and 4 weeks later I got a call from HR stating that I had been terminated. They told me that they needed to hire a replacement for me ASAP, but my friends who worked there told me they did not even interview anyone for the position.

I collected STD for six months, and then filed for Social Security disability, which thankfully I received after only a five month wait.

I've got a lawyer and we're filing a Workman's Comp claim, but it will take years to resolve. Being a salaried employee, there is no limit to the number of hours I can be asked (forced, of course) to work.

Bottom line, they do whatever the fuck they want, then try to wear you down in court, or wait until you (hopefully) die first.

Flatulo! Good to hear from you, my friend! I'm doing good here, thanks.

I went through a lot of BS with workers comp when I got hurt in 2003. I never hired a lawyer, until they started dicking me around and cut my benefits. All in all, it took me 2 major neck surgeries, and 3 years of my life, but the insurance company had to pay out in the end.

My lawyer advised against filing for disability until after the case was settled, saying that the disability payments could affect the amount of settlement monies.

It took another 3 years to get approved for disability, which was ridiculous in itself. My neurosurgeon finally wrote them a letter saying that I could never work again, in ANY capacity. I already had a court date set for a hearing with an administrative judge. A few weeks after my neuro wrote that letter, I got a letter from Social Security saying that they had reviewed my case again, and that I was approved now, no need to go to the hearing, which was still 2 1/2 months away...

Yeah, they can TRY to do whatever they want, but luckily I had a judge on my side, who forced them to reinstate my benefits, with full back pay, every time they dicked me around.

Hope all is well with you and yours, my friend...

Peace,

Ghost

Look into the high risk pools (part of Obamacare). Their rates are equivalent to group rates. The only conditions are that you have to have been denied insurance (or have a condition that would cause an insurance company to deny you (and repeat pneumonia might qualify - all sorts of things are considered pre-existing conditions), and have been without insurance for 6 months.

18. Romney has linked himself to the Final Solution in Hitler's Nazi world takeover.
Sun Oct 14, 2012, 09:51 AM
Oct 2012

The Final Solution was a way of exterminating every member of a society of human beings (Jews) that could not work as slaves. Every baby, child, and adult that could not work over 12 hours a day was exterminated. The unhealthy ones died on the way to the gas chambers. No insurance means no follow up care after going to the emergency room. It takes time to transfer all of your belongings and bank accounts over to the State that you live in so that you can move to Medicaid and get follow up care. Usually it takes 2 months to get an appointment after becoming bankrupt. Becoming bankrupt means selling everything you have, to pay for the initial ER Bills. That is thousands and thousands of dollars. Fastest way is to sign your property over to the State.

No other country in the world treats its citizens like this. Voting for the GOP in the country is destroying it. This is a good example of a Trickle-Up economy.

It is apparent to me, that some of these states that have turned down Medicaid under the ACA are in the business of taking the property and bank accounts of the newly uninsured. Most of these states have GOP governors and mainly TEA Legislators.

Romney is covering for this Trickle-Up with the lie he told.

hospital reorganizing their supply rooms. The poor residents don't know whether they are on foot or horseback most of the time. They are a wretched lot in pain a great deal of the time. Half of the people pay the freight on this place by insurance, which if they did not have would put them under a freeway overpass or in a nursing home somewhere. And I watch these liars, Romney and Ryan, and I am so disgusted I could puke. An America with these two assholes in charge won't last long. Unfortunately, there are not enough Johnny Tremaynes around to take them out. Now, the Black Hills militia will hit them hard during the implosion, but will groups like this be enough? Pray Obama wins the election or, sports fans, it is approximately over.

34. As we and Obama-Axelrod sleep, Romney is cleverly manipulating college kids and it is working!
Sun Oct 14, 2012, 10:42 AM

Hello:

As a staunch Democrat, I want to be the constructive critic and I hope someone is reading this.

Romney has been clever and he is throwing this to college kids: "I do not make promises that cannot be kept. I cannot promise you education support, what I can tell you is I will create jobs for you after college."

How clever? And college kids are falling for this crap. Colorado movement and Iowa movement towards Romney (and also NH) is attributed to this. But, as usual, Axelrod is slow.

Folks, if kids cannot get educated, they won't get those good jobs. It is sound business to send jobs abroad or invite foreign students who are better, if this happens. That is what business demands. Why are kids falling for a trap? Why are they so attracted to a policy that ensures a bad future for them? Kids, you are forgoing your right to education with tax cuts for Koch brothers who do not need this. Guys, if I am a businessman, I cannot hire kids from the country. Why? They are shooting themselves by voting against their own interests and getting worthless education (or no education). Why?

Please vote Obama-Biden. An interconnected world needs a good balance that includes talents from here and overseas working together. We need exchange of ideas. That is how the world prospers. Why are our kids shooting their own future. People in rural Kansas keep voting against their own interests and every GOP plan is hurting them. They do not care. Please help swing state voters to wake up! How can these kids vote for a man who was mocking the rise in ocean levels? Who will vote for a man who defies science. Only us? Not rest of the world, Europe and others! WAKE UP!

I guess there are stupid, gullible college kids, too, after all, look at the Young Republicans that all dream of becoming the next Karl Rove.

They have no core values, except the pursuit of earning Big Money while shillling for the Oligarchs.

I didn't know Romney was making a pitch like this. It sounds logical and reasonable; I can see why they're falling for it, even though his overseeing of shipping jobs to China is the exact opposite of what he's promising to do.

It does not require treatment, it requires the patient to be stabilized. Once that is achieved, the hospital can discharge the patient, and many private hospitals will.

As Grover Norquist said. (Paraphrasing) "It doesn't matter what Romney says or believes. He will sign whatever legislation we put in front of him"
The ONLY object here is not to be humane, factual, patriotic, or even coherent. It is ONLY to get elected.

"All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate."

he was no longer covered by my insurance. He had an ear infection. The hospital did wave the $600.00 in fees due to my income, BUT there were seperate charges from the Dr and his billing in CA. That was $250.00 I HAD to pay , they would not wave the fee. Now the hospital fee would have been hell to pay on top of it BUT when you dont have the money it doesnt matter what it is.
All the Dr did was look in his ear and mouth.
$$250 an hour is some job, but $250 for 10 minutes is golden.

What I find truly amazing

is that Mitty thinks it perfectly acceptable for hospitals to
pay the bill for providing "free care" (there's no such thing, BTW)
for the unfortunate, uninsured person who needs help. He sees
absolutely nothing wrong in this scenario.

For him, it is a far better alternative than using tax dollars
to provide universal health care insurance for all Americans,
or driving up HIS taxes a couple hundred dollars in order to care
for those lazy, deadbeat 47% who feel "entitled" to a longer life.

Uninsured people can't afford medication for high blood pressure,
insulin for diabetes, inhalers for COPD, etc., or to pay the full cost of
medications out-of-pocket. (one of my medications would cost
$270/month out-of-pocket!) Before they seek medical treatment,
the uninsured typically wait until they become so severely sick that
they must go to the local ER, which -- unlike Mitt -- is morally and
legally obligated to treat the sick.

It doesn't take a genius to surmise that these conditions will
result in a shorter life span for those without insurance and an
untenable financial burden for those who provide "free care".
-- BUT it takes a self-centered, cold-hearted, slimy fuckhead to
deny that these conditions exist and to pretend that all is well.

It also helps reduce the surplus population.

Obama seemed fine to me. The whole "Obama lost" thing gets way overplayed. In my view he won.

One demographic which believed Obama won, by a wide margin, was online gamers.

I might be stretching somewhat but I think this is because they generally have very analytical minds. I'm sure many of them were able to contextualize what Mitt was saying with what they already knew and felt that Obama was the better performer. Also I'm guessing they saw through Mitt's bullying and blustering. I read an article on Slate that suggested that Obama was an introvert, and I sympathized.

As an introvert you're attempting to deal with a louder more aggressive world that sometimes attempts to steamroll your careful consideration. A lot of people don't appreciate that, therefore the perception that Obama lost.

Having said that I still think Obama should have countered that "my five boys" line or Romney's implying Obama was dishonest. Only thing in the debate performance that really bugged me.

Obama has another debate performance coming up and now that Romney has shown his cards Obama can pounce. No need to be pugnacious, he can instead be pointed.

health care. He used to make all of these arguments prior to passing Romneycare. So he knows this will kill people, yet he says what he says now, knowing Americans will die or go bankrupt, just to get elected! People say that Rmoney will do/say anything to get elected, so there goes your proof! Hitler felt the same way!
