"Study it out" is direct from Mormon theology, "Doctrines Section 9, verse 8":

sticks 3 or 4 footnotes into each sentence in the Book of Mormon or other works, so when you copy and paste their BS you always have to clean it up first.

Here's the cleaned-up passage:

8 But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.

It's a standard bit of Mormon teaching: that "burning in the bosom" (intuition) trumps logical analysis. It's helpful in recruiting potential converts: "don't worry too much about whether our teachings are true -- if they 'feel right' to you, that's God telling you to become one of us."

Its actually supposed to/believed to be the Holy Spirit communicating to you. They do not believe it is intuition.

As an Episcopalian I could not be a member of a church that does not allow booze. Jesus never said don't drink.

The only thing they did was clarify that BYU chose not to sell soda with caffeine in it because there was no demand for it (this is BYU leadership not church leadership). Thats what they claim anyway - my experience was the majority of BYU students drank caffeinated soda off campus.
